Like most children, I used to think that I had a lot of time on my hands. Nevertheless, as I grew older and entered middle school, I realized how time is extremely limited and must be used wisely. As a result, I have learned how to be punctual, from handing assignments to arriving at a designated location. Punctuality shows an evidence of preparedness which can be applied to many aspects of one’s life. Because a majority of my assignments have an assigned due date, I am strongly encouraged to hand it in before or on the deadline, a point that all teachers emphasize, whether it’s classwork or homework. To ensure that I hand in my best work, I prefer beginning my assignments early in order to have time to revise and improve my work. Arriving on time is important as well. As a student, I am expected of me to arrive at school every day at 8 am sharp in order to receive maximum instructional time. However, I tend to leave my house early to prepare for any mishaps during my journey to the school or any other destination. Aside from school, arriving to work or an important meeting, such as an interview, is important as well. Lateness is generally associated with resistance, lack of respect and consideration, hence why many people regard time as an important component to one’s first impression. If admitted into the program at the GESC, I will try my best to be on time, although the commute time is approximately two hours, because I believe that punctuality is one of the keys to

The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

“Some reliable information about veterinarians is that they use problem-solving skills and in-depth knowledge of biological, physical and social science to diagnose, treat and prevent animal diseases” (Veterinarian, 2015). This proves that being a veterinarian is the job for me because I use problem-solving skills in today’s situations. “The key interest of being a veterinarian is they get to work directly with animals on a daily basis and they play a vital part in making sick animals better” (Benefits of being a vet, 2015). This interests me because animals have always been a part of my life, so it would be a blessing to have the ability to working a environment with things in which I love. Therefore, UC Davis offers hands-on training with animals. UC Davis also offers a great veterinarian program and classes in which…

I did my internship at Veterinary Medical Center of Clayton. It was an amazing experience. I got to help the doctors and veterinary technicians with different cases. Some of the main things I did was to feed, bathe, and exercise animals, clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and examination and operation rooms, restrain animals during examination and laboratory procedures, maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, monitor and care for animals after surgery, help provide emergency first aid to sick and injured animals, give medication or immunizations that veterinarians prescribe and assist in the collection of blood, urine, and tissue samples. One case I help with was when a dental cleaning. We started with an examination of the extraoral…

Always wait until the last minute. This may seem counterintuitive, as teachers and parents are always telling students to not procrastinate. However, procrastination is what drives a student to success. Procrastination gives a student the drive to finish that assignment or project that was assigned weeks ago and is due tomorrow. As time boils down, a student’s senses become sharper, allowing them to focus on the task at hand. How can one not enjoy the excitement of completing a project in the nick of time, or the pride felt when they have bested their friends in a competition of who can survive with the least amount of sleep?…

Adventures in Veterinary Medicine is not only suitable for me because of my aspirations to become a veterinarian, but also because of my ongoing fascination in wildlife medicine. What interests me the most about the Adventures in Veterinary Medicine program is the opportunity to shadow fourth-year veterinary students in the Tufts Wildlife Clinic. My internship at the New England Wildlife Center triggered my interest for wildlife and I am eager to learn more about the larger ethical and conservation issues that are constantly impacting wildlife. I believe these issues are especially relevant in today’s society due to climate changes that wildlife are forced to acclimate themselves to. If accepted to Adventures in Veterinary medicine, I…

As I read this article, it actually made me laugh because some of the excuses I have used myself. Although it is bad to turn in an assignment late, it is not bad to make an excuse to make up for it. After all, it’s all for our sake. If the instructor let us go with it, then we’re good. But that doesn’t mean we can do it again. In this kind of situations, first is alright, but never expect a second time because any instructors would definitely doubt a second time. This article is an irony because it shows how the excuses made the teachers believe to not believe the students as time…

School can consume our daily life. Do one thing at a time, divide your time between daily schoolwork and other responsibilities outside of school. Doing too much at once can be daunting. Can’t say “no”. This arises from a wish to please everyone and suggests a failure to define what’s really important. Simplify your goals. Decide what you need to do and can do, and say” no” to whatever interferes. (Yager, 2003) There are a multitude of factors that contribute to time management. We can waste time by watching TV, texting, checking e-mails, surfing the web, playing games or hanging out with friends. It is not a constructive way to use time. These factors can also be attributed to procrastination. Time management and procrastination go hand in…

Every teacher always gives the same old tired speech when assigning a school assignment “Start right away, do not begin until the last minute to begin”. I usually tend to disregard any warnings about procrastination. When given school assignments, I used to think that they wouldn’t bring me any knowledge I would use in the real world; boy, was I wrong! School assignments are meant to teach us responsibility, and punctuality. I eventually had to learn to plan ahead and not procrastinate over a pile of work and a hot pot of coffee.…
