Academic Integrity Analysis
The topic of academic integrity and how it applies to the real world got me to think how innocently breaks can occur in integrity. There can be some blurring of the line between right and wrong. Not all breaks in integrity are obvious and this is a topic that everyone needs to evaluate critically from time to time. The three that I will expand on are bribery, misrepresentation, and facilitating academic dishonesty. We can mostly all agree that failing to follow these guidelines is wrong but sometimes wrong doing can occur almost obliviously.

Veracity means truth. (Finkelman and Kenner, 2016, P. 175) As a nursing professional it is imperative to tell the truth even when the situation is difficult. Patients entrust delicate information to nurses that may be important to share with a doctor. Patients may ask the nurse not to tell other members of their team this information. If a nurse lies and says that they won’t tell, then does, and the patient finds out they will be less honest in the future. The patient may be unhappy that the information cannot stay private. Sometimes the patient may be convinced to allow the nurse to tell the doctor, but not always. Ultimately, if the patient refuses to divulge the information on their own and it is important to their plan of care the doctor must be told regardless of the patient’s …show more content…
Social media is a snap shot of a person’s life. The majority of people using social media or blogs want to put their best face forward. To illustrate a husband sends a wife flowers, she posts a picture of her bouquet on her Facebook account with the caption, I have the best husband ever. Later that same day she gets home and the husband has forgotten to take the trash out. The wife is very unhappy with her lazy, good for nothing husband. The wife does not take down the earlier post, but at that moment he is not the best husband ever. Social media portrays the life people want to share. This life is not always reality. Blurring of the truth can occur in so many different ways it is important to examine these principals and how they can be interpreted prior to passing
