Abortion Is A Big Issue In Our Society
Megan Gibson November 5, 2012 Period 1A English 11
The Unwanted

Abortion is a big issue in our society; it has been debated for many decades. There are people that are against abortion (Pro-life) and then there are people that are for it (Pro-choice). This is one of those topics where there is no right or wrong, people have their own strong opinions about it. Although there are many situations females face that lead to an abortion; it’s still a serious decision to make.
People who are pro-life are strongly against abortion. They believe abortion is considered murder, and a crime. In this case they see murdering an unborn child just as bad as taking someone’s life. These people spend hours outside abortion clinics, trying to prevent others from going through with an abortion. On the other hand people who are pro-choice strongly believe a women should have a choice whether they want to keep their baby or not. Women should have control over their own bodies. Both have good arguments so it’s hard to say who’s right and who’s wrong.

(CDC) In the same year about 17% of teens had gone through an abortion as well. Many of the reasons for having an abortion were, they were too young, it would interfere with school or work, or they could not afford a child. There is large amount of parents who forced their teens to have abortions, for some of the same reasons. In 2011 the numbers came down

Abortion is an on-going debate throughout the United States. Americans divide 50% as pro-choice and 44% on pro-life. (Saad, 2015) Majority of women side with pro-choice, and being a woman myself, I stand with pro-choice. I believe that it’s an individual’s right to decide what they’re doing to their bodies, and no one else should be allowed to deny them of said right. There are many different reasons as to why someone would get an abortion. Whether it be from results of rape, birth control failure, teen pregnancy, or whatever the case may be, every abortion is thought out and no option is an easy option.…

There are many reasons why women have abortions. An unwanted pregnancy, inability to support a child, birth control failure, to prevent birth defects, end pregnancy due to rape, and to prevent physical or mental harm to the mother are just a few. Many women who are pro choice argue that it is their body and their choice. Needless to say,…

Abortion is a topic that many feel is controversial. It can not be easily agreed upon for many reasons. The fight for pro-life has to do with religion and the morality of taking a life. On the other hand, pro-choice involves women’s rights as well as a woman’s well being. These two ideas make abortion a subject that is…

The Pro-Life side is more commonly defined as the argument against abortion. It has many different view points. One of the most common is religious. Many people have expressed their opinions in support of this side. One particular would be "Why Abortion is Immoral" by Don Marquis. He shows in his argument how Pro-Life supports generalize a fetus as an innocent human being from conception, and how they expect it to have the same rights as you and I. To these supporters abortion is wrong in every sense and they try to offer alternatives such as adoption. They also have points that are made from a feminist stand point. Generally they say that Pro-Choice…

What is Pro-Choice? Pro-Choice refers to the belief that a woman has the right to abort a baby from her body. Most people do not know how they stand on this subject. Usually a touchy subject, it is often kept a secret. I did extensive research on this subject after my older sister got an abortion. At first I was upset by the fact that she did it but now I realize that it was her choice and not mine. I feel that a woman has the right to do what she wants to her body. If a woman does not feel that she can raise a child then she should be able to do whatever she wants. If a woman gets an abortion in a case where she cannot raise the child then that is one less child put into foster care. During this speech I will inform you of the background on abortion, the different types of abortion, and also the main reasons to be pro-choice.…

There are many differences between a “pro- choice” position on abortion and a “pro- life” position. People who are “pro- choice”, then they believe that it is the woman’s decision if she wants to have a child and carry it for nine months. If someone is “pro- life”, then they are against anyone getting an abortion. They believe that the fetus has the same rights as a human being. The argument the “pro- life” people strongly believe is that every undeveloped human is sacred and must be protected by the government. The “pro- choice” people argue that when a humans personhood cannot be proven in pregnancies, then the government does not have the right to prevent a woman her right to decide whether or not she wants to continue with the pregnancy.…

The majority of abortions come from un-married women. Schools must begin to teach the dangers of sex more seriously, and show high schoolers the dangers of pre-marital sex. If an un-married high school couple has sex and ends up pregnant, it will either wind up in an abortion, or an extremely hard life for all three of them. If the couple does choose to keep the child, the mother will be forced to drop out of school, and the father to work extra hours after school to afford to pay for the child. Having a child at a young age also may cause the couple to begin to argue and fight. This leads to the man leaving the woman and child on their own. Knowing this, a couple is more likely to consider having an abortion in the first place. Even married couples must be sure they are ready to have a child before intercourse. A lot of abortions come from recently married couples who did not participate in safe sex. These couples are excited to be married and finally sleep together, but are not ready to start a family. While sex is a gift from God that married couples are meant to enjoy, these couples do not realize that it is still not morally right to participate in it if they are not ready for a child. There are many other reasons that people get abortions, but these are the main reasons, and if these two situations happened less often, the rate of abortions would drop…

There are two different viewpoints on abortion. Pro-choice and pro-life. Let’s start with the easy one. Pro-life means that a person is completely against abortion. The pro-life viewpoint is the belief that abortion is considered taking the life a human, which would mean that life begins at conception. People may have this viewpoint for religious values, or even their personal moral values, and believe that abortion for anyone is wrong. Pro-choice is a little bit harder to describe. It doesn’t mean pro-abortion, it literally concerns the word choice. People that are pro-choice believe that it is a person’s personal decision as to whether or not they get an abortion. Somebody may be completely against abortion personally, but may still be pro-choice because they believe that it is a person’s decision and that right should not be…

The Pro-Lifers believe that the unborn fetuses have as much rights as a born child and that to terminate the pregnancy would be the same as murdering a person outside the womb. The Pro-Choicers believe it is up to the individual person to make the decision whether to continue the pregnancy or terminate. They may not personally believe in abortion, but they feel it is not their place to decide what a woman should do with her body.…

When I was about seven years old, I heard my aunt, a gynecologist, speaking on the phone with one of her patient’s husbands’ who wanted his wife to abort their baby. My aunt absolutely refused and commanded that he stop calling her. At the time, I didn’t really comprehend the story or what was happening, but I never forgot that moment. As I grew older, I understood why my aunt was so rigid about her decision. Abortion has been a huge issue not only in today’s society, but probably dating back to earlier times. It is the slaughtering of innocent lives with approval from the government. This is exactly why this dilemma should grab the attention of everyone, because It doesn’t just affect a specific age group it affects everyone and it is a…
