Abortion In Plato's Allegory Of The Cave
A belief I formed in my high school years was the belief of pro choice. Growing up I had no preference nor enough knowledge to be able to form an educated opinion on this topic. So I just wildly accepted the growing opinion around me that having abortions was not ok. Yet as I grew up I began to learn more and more about the benefits of abortions. In Plato’s Allegory of the Cave we can see how the people were stuck. They were stuck in their notions like i was stuck in my belief that having an abortion was the wrong ay out. As I grew, or as I saw the light and escapd the cave, I saw the benefits of being able to have choices. From there we as a society have to define the standards of when having an abortion is considered murder. I believe having a baby is completely up to the mother, but the mother is not the only creator of the baby. So what if the father, who really craves a baby, never knows about the baby and she has the abortion. Also we can see how far along the babies are when they are taken out of the womb. By week 8, not even done with the first trimester, the babies eyes have formed and he or she is definitely looking like a human. Abortion should not be legal if you classify the life as human by any means. But if the baby doesn’t have a brain, then is it alive and feeling? But then why do parents mourn losses of miscarriags just weeks after conception? He or she is a human in our eyes that’s why and why would you ever end anyones life and call that humane? Even it does result in a more efficient life for the parents and the lack of one potentilly troubled life in the future. In essence I can see where it is considered inhumane to end pregnancies. I get that to some it is killing babies.. I personally do not beliee i could eer end my baby’s life but i do believe it is a woman’s
