Abortion Today in our society abortion remains one of the most controversial topics. There are many people who believe that it is unethical and even thought of as murder.1 Abortion is a medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of a fetus. People who think women should not have this procedure are Pro-Life. In the majority of cases adult women and teenagers choose whether or not, when having intercourse to protect themselves. Some feel this is the point when women have a choice, not after a life has been formed. They believe in the right to life.
Then there are those who believe women should have the right to abort or carry a child to term are Pro-Choice. They believe the mother has the right to choose if the fetus is a living being according to the circumstances in her life. I feel that if a female is sexually active, at this point in her life she should know the potential end result of not protecting herself. Too many women become pregnant and choose to have abortions based on how the child may impact their lives. The fear of facing financial problems, having to deal with relationship issues or just not wanting to be a single mother has been a few of the reasons given for making this choice. I feel these reasons are wrong, as I stated earlier, from my perspective abortion is like murder. We are killing innocent children who do not get a chance to experience life, based on someone else’s choice. Women who engage in unprotected sex knowing they may become pregnant and decide abortion is the answer are not accepting the responsibility of their actions. By having an abortion, we are denying the mother the opportunity to raise the baby and usually this ends up hurting her emotionally at some point in her life.
