6 Eslr Research Paper
Semester one was definitely different than what I had in mind. I am Marisol Franco. I am a freshman attending Livermore Valley Charter Preparatory. This is my first year of high school so everything is new to me. The grading system is a bit different compared to what I had used in my previous years. ESLRs stands for Expected Schoolwide Learning Results. There is a total of 6 ESLRs which include to be prepared for college, act responsibly, communicate effectively, think critically, be creative, and stay current. All 6 ESLRs are used to help students improve in school by doing projects for certain classes. A few ESLRs that helped me the first semester were to act responsibly, stay current and to communicate effectively. Some ESLRs that did not help me were to be prepared for college, to think critically, and to be creative.
One of the ESLRs is to be prepared for college. Being prepared for college means that you are able to stay organized with school work and time and keep up with good grades without assistance. Having good grades and staying organized will give me more opportunities to get into a better 4 year college. I failed miserably on this ESLR. The Human Body Project in Biology represents why I failed this ESLR. A part of this project was to build a 3D model with some imagination that fit your body system. This part of the project was my least favorite part. I’ve never enjoyed art. This model was never completed because I never thought of a creative idea on how to build a unique model for my body system. This brought my grade down severely. The only way to make this ESLR better for next time is to reach a little out of my comfort zone and maybe i’ll find something new that I probably never knew I could

In 2004 a group of scientists found the partial skeleton of a new human species we had never seen before. Researchers called the remains LB1, also nicknamed the hobbit due to its small size. It was first believed that this new species, Homo floresiensis, was a descendent of Homo erectus that had simply dwarfed over time due to limited access to resources. However, newer studies have highlighted some of the more primitive characteristics of LB1, which lead scientists to believe that the hobbits branched off from the human family tree much earlier than previously thought.…

Jane is a second grade ELL student. The results from her first grade End of Year (EOY), assessments demonstrated the following data. Jane’s data for NWF (Nonsense Word Fluency) was 52, whereas the benchmark goal was 58. Consequently, her fluency score was a 42, the recommended goal was 47. The DIBELS accuracy component illustrated the need for additional support, as Jane scored 88% when the goal was 90% for the end of first grade. Jane did score slightly above grade one expectations on the WWR (Whole Words Read), scoring 17 whereas the target goal was 13. Jane’s retell score was 20, however the EOY goal was 15. Therefore, Jane’s End of Year (EOY), grade one comprehensive scores demonstrated a need for strategic instructional grouping.…

For me, this course has helped me understand my ELL students and ESOL experiences I’ve had in the past. It has helped my validate many of the decisions I made in an effort to help my students. It also gave me a better understanding of student behavior and challenges. I feel that if I had taken this course prior to my work teaching overseas, I would have recognized earlier some of the difficulties my students were experiencing. Because I had to learn through experience, I needed more time to recognize patterns of behavior and determine the underlying causes myself. I described some of my most challenging students throughout the activities assigned in this course. If I had known exactly what to look for when students are displaying symptoms…
