4th Day Narrative
A Day In 4th Grade
It was 4th grade at Collins Elementary as I walked down the hall that morning. Outside, the sky was clear and there were puffs of white clouds floating all around, the sun was shining as bright as it could, and I thought today would be a good day. I made my way to my usual spot on the floor, underneath the huge window near the third grade bathrooms, a few floor tiles away from the big trash can. I was sliding down the wall to sit when they surrounded me. What they want coming up to me like that? They all towered over me with their arms crossed over their chest, and smirks painted on all their faces, and among them was Nadia. Their leader stood off to the side watching.
A follower spoke out and said sweetly, “we got to

Nadia and I were “best friends” since second grade. Sure I had friends who treated me better, but I wanted to be a part of the masses. I wanted to fit in. After the fight, I stilled remained acquainted with her, but I was very different. I never wanted anyone to hurt me the way she did so I became the Leader. I brought myself out of my betrayal through bitterness, and I became a lost soul. I became so strong, that I was weak and didn’t even know it. Until I heard God calling me by name.
As I think of the incident now it brings me to a verse, Romans 8: 28- 29“We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son.” This means that God wanted me from the beginning. He planned that part of my life that certain way so that it would put me right where I needed to be. I couldn’t be with them because I would have become like them. I had to become like Him. I’m fulfilling that purpose to become like Jesus Christ now and I not alone. God is with me, and he supplies every one of my needs. I realize now that he has my back, and he always

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

It’s only natural to keep vivid memories of certain monumental moments in life, such as the first day of school, for a long time. “The First Day” by Edward P. Jones tells the story of a mother and daughter on the daughter’s first day of school. In the beginning of the story, the mother goes to great lengths to prepare her daughter for this important occasion. After the preparation is over, she takes her daughter to a particular school before being told that she is in the wrong school district. They are directed to the correct school and that is where the daughter is registered to attend. However, the mother is not able to fill out the registration form because she cannot read or write. Along with love, pride and shame are also expressed in the story. Throughout the story, the author uses imagery, irony, and descriptive detail to convey these powerful feelings. Although love and shame are almost completely opposite on the spectrum of human emotion, Jones suggests that they run parallel to each other.…

I thought it was going to be a normal day in first grade.. Boy was I wrong! We were learning about different plants and animals. And of course, insects. At the time, I went to an elementary school called Thunder Mountain Elementary, in Grand Junction. We were sitting in groups and the lights were off with the projector on. If I remember correctly, we were also taking notes. Our teacher, Ms. White was, well, teaching us. That’s kinda what teachers do. Maybe teachers do other things we aren’t aware of.. Nah. In second grade, teachers were like, Einstein and the smartest of mentors, not saying that people still don’t think that now. Teachers are awesome and have some of the best or worst stories to tell. But, before today, I didn’t really mind…

A shimmering glass jar 12 inches high and 6 inches wide, full of blue, green, red, brown, yellow, and orange M&M’s just sitting there waiting to be munched on. Fifth grade, what a year to be in school, everyone's goal was to eat candy and play. Before fifth grade I was homeschooled all my life and never knew what it was like to go to school, so going into fifth grade I didn't know anything other than doing school work and learning. When I first got to Baymonte we were learning things I already learned 2 years ago, thus I was far ahead all the other kids in math and english and history. I'm not going to lie I was the teacher's pet, if he needed something done I did it if he needed me to help someone with math I helped them and it was nice being the smart one. After a while I learned that fifth grade is all about having friends and playing, so I said to…

When I was ten, I lived at home with my mom, younger brothers Allen and Marcus, and our two pit bulls Willie and Rosie on Crouse Street on the east side of Akron. I was best friends with my neighbor Ron. Ron was often the one that picked out what game or activity we were going to do, which often involved riding bikes throughout the neighborhood. Ron was very tall, pale, and a year older than me. It was a typical, Friday evening, and I was eager to leave school early so I could get my belongings from my locker. Ron’s mom took us home on Fridays and didn’t like for us to be late. I headed outside around the recess section of the school that is alongside a tree line where my school has an eight foot fence blocking it off. We leaned on the fence and talked about what we did at school until his mom came to pick us up.…

As I step off the yellow school bus, I looked up at the big, brown brick elementary school. Kids were everywhere. I was excited. The night before, I could hardly sleep. I kept getting up every five minute, afraid I might oversleep. I felt like the big man on campus, but in reality, I was the little man on campus. I was about six years old and so tiny among the older children. I was taken to the cafeteria, where all the kids were to find their teachers and walk to their homerooms as a class. I found my teacher. She was a middle-aged Caucasian woman with blonde hair. Her name was Ms. Bishop. She was nice. The bell rung and we walked in a single file line to our classroom for the next couple months.…
