3.03 Managing Your Stress

Being a teen today in this generation brings an overload of stress. There’s social drama, school over load, family issues, personal problems, and way more. Dealing with my own stress, I tested a few stress management techniques, which really helped to detox some of the negative stress in my life. The first method I chose was imagery, the second was volleyball, and the third was music. They helped me realize I was too blessed to stress! The first technique I used was imagery. Dealing with my own stress, I tested a few stress management techniques, which really helped to detox some of the negative stress in my life. The first method I chose was imagery, the second was volleyball, and the third was music. They helped me realize I was too blessed to stress! The first technique I used was imagery. After researching, I learned that in many studies imagery is used to reduce patient’s blood pressures. Basically its when you visualize in your head something that relaxes you or makes you happy. It could be you accomplishing a goal, doing an activity, or even a place. During the school week I often get overloaded with homework for hours. I sometimes stress on not being able to make a due date or not being able to finish on time and it leads to me giving up. This week in particular I felt like this. I took a five-minute break, lied down and imagined the last vacation I took. Imagining sounds such as the ocean hitting the rocks, smells such as the ocean water, touch such as the breeze against my hair and skin flowed the stress out of my body. I could feel my body heat decreasing, and my eyebrows unfurrowing. This is a great way to deal with

    Stress has helped me before, especially with meeting my deadlines by improving my time management skills. As well, stress has aided me in working towards effective conflict resolution skills, if the root of my stress revolves around people. Also, the feeling of conquering my tasks makes me feel good, so there’s also that pleasure factor to take into account. Stress motivates me to do better, but in moderation.
