Rita Dove’s imagery and writing style made this poem fairly clear. It tells the story of one woman’s typical day. The mother is exhausted by each day. She barely gets a rest. I did a bit of research on this poem‚ and I found out that Dove published “Daystar” in a collection of poems in 1985. It was the year that caught my attention.
