EXPLAIN WAYS IN WHICH THEORIES AND PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION CAN BE APPLIED TO PROMOTE INCLUSIVE PRACTICE.
Over the years scientist and psychologists have been interested in finding out how we learn. As a result of this numerous theories now exist regarding teaching and learning, the main ones being behaviourism, neo-behaviourism, constructivism, humanist, andragogy and many more. As previously discussed in (unit 4 1.1) theorist started looking at how animals react to new information and then developed this to include learning in humans in an educational context.

Minton (2002) identified that “The history of education is littered with failed theories, even those that were the result of years and years of research” (pg213)
Highlighting that the principles of learning are not new, people have deliberated over this subject for years as the quote below illustrates. “Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and l’ll remember. Involve me and I’ll understand.” Confucius (551BC-479BC) Chinese Philosopher
Theorist have built on each others work over time, in this essay I aim to cover briefly some of the theories which I feel are the relevant to my group of distance learners. From my initial research I will select and critically analyse the impact that these of these principles or theories on the important milestones of learning and teaching and relate humanistic theories to my own teaching. I have chosen Rodgers, , ???????????? whose views on how the theories and principles of learning and communication have all impacted on the method of teaching utilising my distance learning group as an example.

There are many different theories and principles which have been developed to help us understand how effective learning, communication and curriculum design underpin and enable teachers to develop high quality inclusive practice.
