"U" Complete Me
My most prized possession is my pair of 75th anniversary 22 karat-gold limited edition Ray-Ban aviators. Being my most meaningful possession, my Ray-Bans are tucked safely away in their tan leather case that regularly resides inside my Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch in Damier Ebene. Unzipping the purse one directly takes notice of the tan sunglasses case as it is commanding virtually half of the purse’s volume. The clasp securing my aviators inside the safe environment that is the leather case it calls home is quite obviously worn loose from daily use. Snapping the case open, one instantaneously spots the glimmer of gold metal emerging from the previously dark void. Having removed the possession from its hiding spot one can see that the glasses resemble those of a stereotypical Hollywood movie cop. The sunglasses appear to have been dipped in gold. Accompanying the golden sheen are tortoise shell accents on the sweat-bar and temple tips. When placed in direct sunlight even the lenses appear to be made of gold. Naturally, no possession can make a mark on one’s life without having procured some imperfections in the process. Certainly not incredibly noticeable, but definitely a nuance, the screw-hinge on the left frame periodically comes loose. Compared to the screw dilemma the second and last imperfection is a small ‘U’ shaped scratch also residing on the left lens; but unlike the loose hinge, the small scratch represents an interesting story. This scratch, located approximately two centimeters from the frame was caused when a town about an hour and a half east of my home.The Spinnaker’s parking lot is where the fateful event took place, I bent down to reach for my keys that I had just dropped and on the way down my glasses decided to fall off of my head and plummet towards the black rocky gravel; freaking out, I quickly retrieved them from the ground and anticipating the worst I was pleasantly surprised to find the small ‘U’ shaped scratch engraved on the golden lens
