I. JESUS AND THE SALVATION IN THE MIRACLES

II. JESUS AND SALVATION IN THE PARABLES. Parable Text
Actual Parable Story Situation
Spiritual Meaning
The Feature of Salvation in this Parable
The Lost Sheep
Matthew 18:12-14

Speaking to a group of tax collectors, "sinners", Pharisees, and teachers of the law, Jesus asks them to imagine that they had a hundred sheep and one of them strayed. A shepherd would leave the ninety-nine sheep and search for the lost one until he found it. Then he would put it on his shoulders with joy, take it home, and tell his friends and neighbors to rejoice with him, because he had found his lost sheep.
For me the symbol in the parable that I can compare my self is the lost sheep. In life we sometimes we got lost in direction, we do things that are against the will of the Father so for me the lost sheep represents repentances and going back to the right way. This parable taught me that God wants all His children to be saved. If one has wandered from His path, He's going to try to bring Him back. Heaven rejoices every time a sinner repents. God loves all His children and He wants all of us to inherit the kingdom of Heaven.
Coming back to God side is the image of salvation that was brought in the story and when hat they comes God will rejoice in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who do not need to repent.

There is also symbolism in the piece of two-by-four that was driven into the hard land. It not only symbolized the death of the child but also the death of hope in their hard world. It was a symbol of the cross that the father had to bear, of his grief over not being able to provide for and save his child. It is also symbolic that there are no words on the cross. It could have been that he was illiterate as most in his time were; however, I feel that the words were intentionally left off because this cross was a symbol to his family that their child was lain there. It was not for the world to see. It was for the father to know that though he could not give the child all it needed to survive, at least he could give him a proper burial.…

The world is cruel, heartless, violent, and they are from Satan. However, God’s people are those who have not become accustomed with them. Instead, the saints are against all the corruption from the world. Therefore, God separates the two; his saints and the people of the evil one, at the end of age. God will bring his people who have suffered on earth to heaven, and condemn the people of Satan into eternal hell. The novel Kingdom Come distinctly depicts the latter part of the Apocalypse, that is the part of salvation. When the nuclear bomb blew up the metahumans at war, Spectre notes that “there were survivors. They are fewer in number, and their pain is great … but their war is over” (Waid and Ross 189). The “survivors” refer to the metahumans that were able to escape the impact of the nuclear bomb, meaning Superman, and everybody in Green Lantern’s forcefield. This correlates to the “survivors” mentioned in the bible, pertaining to the saints of God who will be saved. Spectre continues to explain that the ones who survived are “fewer in number” than those who died. This alludes to the…

What follows then is an explanation of grace and repentance. Once more he references the scriptures, but this time it is to show the Lord’s mercy. “We have only to survey the generations of the past to see that in every one of them the Lord has offered the chance of repentance to any who were willing to turn to him.” He then entreats all of the faithful in Corinth to believe the good news and conform to the will of the Father because it is the will of the Father that “repentence should be open to every one of his beloved.”…

This view holds that the parable can be interpreted in such a way that the victim represents Adam, the priest and the Levite are the priesthood and the Old Testament, and the Good Samaritan is Jesus. (Cevallos, 56) In this sense, the victim has been overcome by the temptation to sin, and the Good Samaritan, parallel to the Jesus, whom people label as an outcast and blasphemer, is the one who shows mercy and ultimately saves the victim. (Graves, 269) Adhering to this view, the meaning behind this parable is that Jesus is…

The third, fourth, eighth, ninth, and tenth paragraph of “Salvation” is set around the idea of guilt in which the preacher sings songs that will emotionally sway the children to be “saved”. “One little lamb was left out in the cold.” This forces the children to think of being left behind, and at this age, they do not like to be alone, or to be stranded with no one, and so they go to the preacher so they are not left behind. Another factor that…

    Symbolism In The Bible

Symbolism is used all throughout the Bible. Everything in the Bible has a significant meaning and a purpose. Symbolism helps create understanding and depth. It can help make the theme of a story become clearer. Themes alone can sound preachy, and stories alone can sound shallow. Symbolism weaves the two together to create a perfect balance. Symbols are usually used to describe something complex, Jesus used symbols so we could understand his preaching’s. God’s journey with the Israelites is one of the greatest epics ever written. In all good tales symbolism is often used. Both in the old and new testaments three things are often used as symbols; the vine, the olive tree, and the fig tree. These three things come together…

The author refers to the children as “young lambs to the fold;” the extended metaphor is repeated through various paragraphs within the text by his aunt and congregation. This gives the reader a sense of how vulnerable and manipulative the church can be when religion is forced upon adolescents. They often question him asking, “Won’t you come? Won’t you come to Jesus? Won’t you come, lambs?” Most of the children immediately went up as soon as they were questioned; little girls even cried due to the preaching of the “dire pictures of hell, and…a song about the ninety and nine safe in the fold, but one little lamb was left out in the cold.” It was not until the constant begging that Hughes admits, to the reader, the falsity of his dedication to the church.…

The short story Salvation, written by Langston Hughes, is based on his personal experience at church as a young child. Langston Hughes aunt takes him to a meeting for the children at her church. At the meeting all the kids were to sit on the mourners bench and wait for Jesus to save them. Towards the end of the ceremony, all the children had been saved by Jesus except Langston and another boy. Eventually, he decides to get up and said that he had been “saved” by Jesus, although he never was. His tone in the story is somewhat a feeling of betrayal and that things aren’t always what they seem. Langston presents 2 contradictory views on religion in which are presented from Langston himself and his Auntie Reed. In the story Hughes says, “ I was…
