My First Week in College Essay Example
What a feeling! It’s finally here! As the plane lifted off to take me to a new destination, a new era in life, I felt myself emerging from being a boy into a young man. As mom pulled up to the college in our rented SD car, I took a gasp of fresh air. I saw many cars with students pulling up to the campus with curious on lookers like myself. My mom entered the long lines that moved as slow as a snail; it felt as though what usually would take an hour to do took forever. Mom and my aunt setup my room, took me along with my siblings to dinner, gave me their long speech and said their goodbyes. Oh yes! Bring on the freshmen party! The tours of the campus, international student meetings and I can’t forget the shuttle to the mall and Walmart. I thought to myself this is freedom; freedom away from my parents nagging me to clean my room, the dishes or take out the trash. Full with excitement of meeting new people and getting to know my campus better the first few days was good.

I woke up suddenly thinking I had over slept but it was only 4:00 a.m., couldn’t get back to sleep but slowly drafted off as I watched the seconds on the clock ticked away. I was awaken by my roommate movement in the room, “Ritchie, we late for school”, I got up rushed into our common bathroom (which was nothing I am used too), racing over to get to my first class dropping my books and feeling embarrassed. My stomach was tied up in a knot, as I approached the door of my class my legs buckled and became heavy, my inside turned over, and I had butterflies. As I stretched my shaking hands forward to open the door anticipating a huge room full with students, I asked to Lord to keep me covered but to my surprise the room was empty. Could you believe this, at that moment I was still living the life of a high school student and came to a quick realization that college life is nothing like high school or even elementary school because out of humiliation I found out that the reason we

My rite of passage was coming to Randolph-Macon. As I arrived at Randolph-Macon College on September 1st to begin my freshman year of college, I could not do anything but shake from being so nervous. My parents kept telling me that everything would come together and I would fit right in. I had never felt so out of place. Coming from a small private school, with a graduating class of 30, I could not bear to meet a freshman class that was as bigger than my hometown or my k-12 school. It was like I was a nightmare and no matter how many times I pinched myself, I could not wake up. I was trapped here without any friends or a vehicle to escape.…

My first year in college was probably the most exciting and, at the same time, scariest days of my life. Something so tragic couldn't have happened on the best day of my life, "My Graduation Day." The day itself had actually been going very well indeed, and a seemingly endless surge of excitement had me going crazy! Things were going perfectly how I imagined it, I have been waiting for this day for 12 long years and just knowing the fact that it was here just drove me insane. The morning started out when I woke up and had a wonderful breakfast waiting for me out on the table with my close family there. All sitting around the table talking about my graduation that was to be held later on that evening, everyone was really excited. Then all of a sudden the clouds turned grey and the rain started pouring down. The alert for a thunder storm was called out for my city.…

I can remember this day like it was yesterday. My uncle came into my room at seven o’clock in the morning telling me, “rise and shine it was time to get up”. I opened my eyes and started to stretch, wishing it was just a dream, but of course it wasn’t! I was extremely tired from staying up late the night before because I was so anxious for the big day. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of my water bed; went to the bathroom to do my normal routine. As I was brushing my teeth I looked up at the mirror and BAM! It hit me like a freight train I was about to graduate high school. I couldn’t help myself but to smile, and at the same time I felt like a big part of me was drifting away. This was the first time that I’ve been so happy and extremely sad at the same time and the only thing running through my mind was that this was really happening.…
