Lionel Andres Messi was born June 24, 1987 in Rosario, Argentina. He first played soccer at the age of five in a team that practiced near his neighborhood. He gave great impressions to his coaches all the way until he turned 12. He tried out for Riverplate F.C but was rejected because he suffered a growth problem caused by his hormones. For some time, the company in which his dad, Jorge Messi, worked at, paid his treatment to help Lionel grow. This treatment costs nine hundred dollars a month for three years. Later, the company was not able to continue paying the treatment and the family was forced to move to Spain in search of a better paying job. There, Lionel tried out for F.C. Barcelona, and the coaches were impressed by his skills. The club offered that they would finish paying his treatment. This is how Lionel Messi started to shine in the little leagues with the club. He debuted as a professional player in the starting team in the Spanish Football League in October 16, 2004. He made his first goal with the team in May 1, 2005, becoming the youngest player to score a goal with F.C. Barcelona in history. Lionel Messi has become an essential part of clubs offensive. On March 10, 2007, Messi scored a Hat-Trick against Real Madrid allowing the team to tie on the Ninetieth minute. On the 2008-2009 season, Messi’s Team won the three cups they could win (Spanish Football League, Copa Del Rey, and UEFA Champions League). Lionel Messi gave an incredible performance in all three tournaments and scoring the last goal in the UCL against Manchester United.
