Did you know our former president Andrew Jackson came from poverty? Or that he was the first president to have an assassination attempt made on him while he was in office? The Weider History Group states “Jackson’s presidency is often called the first modern presidency because of his belief that the President is not just an executive but a representative of the people, much like a Congressman but for all the people rather than those of a specific district. Andrew Jackson was born in a Waxhaw settlement on March 15, 1767. His immediate family consisted of his father, his mother, and his two older brothers, Hugh and Robert Jackson. His father died before he was born leaving his mom to raise all three Jackson boys on her own. His oldest brother, Hugh, enlisted in a patriot regiment during the Revolutionary War and died of heatstroke shortly after the battle at Stono Ferry. He and his other brother Robert were too young to join the army, but they found a way to help during the war by currying letters. While currying these letters they were captured by the British and imprisoned on one of their war ships. While on the ship they both caught small pox and shortly after their release Robert died of the disease. Andrews mother would die that same year of Cholera while she was helping to nurse sick and wounded soldiers. Leaving Andrew at the tender age of 15 as an orphan and a harden veteran who would never forget the cost of achieving America’s freedom and the rights for all of it’s citizens. In election 1802 Jackson challenged Governor John Sevier for the position of Major General in command of the state militia and won. After the election he and Sevier would end up in a showdown, with Andrew winning the duel. There were many enemies for the US to fight including Indian tribes, Spain, and the British. Andrew came out victorious at the Battle of New Orleans against the British in 1815. This was the last time any foreign country tried to invade the United States.

I came to the conclusion that I would speak to you all today about something that use to be a passion of mine. Today I would like to speak to you about my time spent in law enforcement.…

I realized my weight was a problem when I reached 260lbs and can’t run a mile anymore. I eat a lot. Food calms me. Fatty foods, such as anything with cheese or butter, feel like an addiction. Sometimes, I just CRAVE fat or butter so insanely. Crave isn't even the word, it's stronger than that, it's a need. I'm sure I have high blood pressure. I wonder if there are any other diseases I might have due to being morbidly obese.”…
