I am Legend Critical Review
“All right, let me tell you about your “Gods plan”. Six billion people were on Earth when the infection
hit. KV had a ninety-percent kill rate, that's five point four billion people dead. Less than one-percent
immunity. That left twelve million healthy people, like you and me. The other five hundred and eighty
eight million turned into dark seekers, and then they got hungry and killed and fed on everybody!
Every single person that you or I has ever known is dead! There is no God!” This memorable line from
the main character Robert Neville, close to the end of the story gives a dark realization that there is no
hope for any survivor and that they will be stuck in this distopian society for the rest of their lives.
The year is 2012, Robert Neville is a military scientist that has been living for the past three
years in the broken- down ruins of a Dystopian New York City after creating a bio-chemical disease,
originally created for curing cancer, that eliminated ninety-percent of the worlds population and sent
the world into a distopian chaos. Twelve million of the remaining six-hundred million survivors were
completely immune to the disease, but were soon after killed by the other five-hundred and eighty-eight
million survivors that turned into “dark seekers”, savage, cannibalistic zombies with super-human
abilities thathunt at night. Robert very well might be the last man on Earth, and could possibly hold the
fate of the human race in his hands if he can find a cure.
In the films opening scene, you find yourself in a beat down, vegetation enriched abandoned
New York City with spooking realism. Cars and bikes are scattered across the streets as if everyone had
dropped what they were doing and left town. The buildings are rotting and falling apart, the streets are
wearing down and there are wild animals running freely. After a few seconds
