Academic Honesty Policy

1. Sacramento State University has a strict Academic Honesty policy, which requires students to adhere to a set of guidelines when doing homework or writing an essay for any class at the University. As a student, the responsibility of following this policy is major when testing, writing, or any other homework for a class at the University. The student is responsible for all of his/her work, and making sure there is no dishonest behavior or plagiarism present when doing the work. An example of a violation would be logging on a computer, going to a site such as USAToday.com, finding an article, copying the article text word-for-word, and including that same text in your paper or essay. The opposite of that scenario would be simply complying with the policy. That would involve researching a topic, again logging onto a computer, and going to a website such as USAToday.com. After you find an article for your paper, instead of just copying the article text word-for-word, a summary would be a way to start. Once you summarize the article, break the text down in your own words, and take the vital information from the article, without plagiarizing.

2. The Academic Honesty policy implemented by Sacramento State University affects every student attending the university throughout his/her academic career. The policy makes students become accountable for all of his/her work. Also, the student attending the university is held to a higher standard by this policy, and hopefully the student maintains this standard throughout his/her academic career and moving forward.

Plagiarism is noted in school policies nationwide to prevent stolen self-claim. There are many websites for people to go to and benefit from someone else’s writings and thoughts. As an NCU student, there were standard violations that need to be avoided. One commitment as a student is always checking a box before every submission of homework stating all work submitted is original works for me, the student, only. As an educator, the assignments should be checked to see if there is replica of literature.…

As discussed in Understanding and Avoiding Plagiarism, the worst consequence of failing to acknowledge sources is to yourself: if you paste in someone’s words as your own, you will miss the opportunity to add your commentary, and therefore miss an opportunity to grow as a thinker and writer. Most of this guide focuses on such intellectual reasons for working properly with sources, rather than emphasizing the penalties of plagiarism. But because the copy and paste technique is so common, it’s especially important to warn you about its potential for abuse. Every year students come before the Yale Executive Committee having committed plagiarism through pasting material from the Internet into their papers and then forgetting to go back and identify the sources. Even when the oversight seems unintentional, these students are guilty of plagiarism, and must face penalties.…

    | Being HonestIt is common for people to dislike NOT having wealth, position and all the fancy trappings that show the world we are successful. Let’s be honest how many of us think that being a Pop Singer like???? or a Diva like Lady Gaga is so cool. Think of it - all the trappings that come with being a highly paid Pop Star, designer clothes, cars, house in Beverly Hills. Can you imagine it? How awesomeGreat huh! I know I will get myself at least 2 Lamborgini’s, A Ferrari and … But now for some reason that dream is over, will we still have the same willingness from others to fulfil our every need, hang onto every word we say and give us all the attention and affirmation we want and when we want it. Will we be happy if it was taken away? We need to be really honest with ourselves here! Will we still get the same respect if we found ourselves suddenly out of the limelight.Honesty – refers to truthfulness, integrity, sincerity and candour and these principles are vital to making effective changes and identifying who each of us really are and what it is we really want to achieve. When you lie about who you are or what you really believe in, you reinforce the idea that you need to pretend to be someone else or that you are not fundamentally "good enough". Worse you undermine virtually every key principle for self improvement, betterment, achievement of goals and most important “what it means to be yourself”If on some level you are afraid of the truth. Know that without being honest you may never really know what you are honestly capable of achieving. You may reach your goal and find yourself unhappier then you have ever been before. At that point you may realise that you still do not know who your true self is. To suddenly wake up at age 70 and realise that you have never really been honest with yourself could be leaving things a bit late and a restart could be quite difficult. Each of us have limitations for…

    Honesty In Business

The act of bluffing in business is a largely debated concept. I have provided substantial evidence in support of two different views on the reasoning behind why bluffing in business is seen as positive and also the negative aspects and overall consequences it can cause. Both philosophers Carr and Bowie apply relevant concepts in support of their opinions. Carr looks at bluffing as a game strategy while Bowie feels that business should not be looked at as a game of poker and utilize strategies that will provide a cooperative and non adversarial work environment.…
