This book included some really good detailed scenes and also some scenes that did not make sense to me. However, through all of the super intense scenes, I have had to put the book down to process what just happened, because of all the things that happened all at once. This book, is they type of book that has you hooked from the beginning to the end. I loved how the author had stuffed the part of Katie waking up on the cabin floor, on the first pages. It really kept me hooked.…
I enjoyed this book and liked the movie and the book both.they both were a lot alike and I didn't realy notice the difference untll I looked harder.…
In my honest opinion I did not like this book and I do not recommend it. The story itself is magnificent but the fact that it is 100% based off of the movie makes it pointless to read. They could have thrown in more deadly obstacles to face and made it worth reading. Overall it had more weaknesses than strengths. Strengths I can give is that if you haven’t seen the movie, then the book could definitely give you exactly what you’ve missed out on. It is a great story and is more than your average adventure tale. Reading it really does make you feel like you were a kid again, running around and being creative.…
There are many characters in the book The Hunger Games the main character is Katniss Everdeen she’s sixteen and her family relies on her because they no longer have a father figure, Katniss has a talent in archery because she hunts for deer in the forest where everyone is forbidden to go by order of the Capitol. Primrose Everdeen or Prim for short is Katniss’s younger sister, they're four years apart and hardly fight. Katniss would do anything for her which she proves by volunteering for her in the reaping. Peeta Mellark is the baker’s son who…
She is characterzed by being a caring person who encourage ones around her to keep going no matter what. Im always there for people who ask for my help, and im also a caring person. The motivation that Katniss showed through her actions is away that I am when helping others, or in a bad situation. Not once in the movie did I see her give up on anything, even if she had gotten hurt really bad. She stuck to what she had to do or either what she was going to do in order to get things back to how they were. Even when it came to helping another team player, she didn’t see it as a threat which showed how caring she…
The Lady of the Angels fire was the worst school fire from Illinois history. This fire taught other schools in the future how to prepare for fires, and what is not safe to have in a school in the event of a fire. The fire killed many children and nuns in just two hours.…
I liked this book because it allowed me to visually picture the story it was telling.…
the characters are relatable and give the reader meaning, and the book sticks in the readers mind…
The traditional consumption of food in everyday life has led to the act being assigned a relatively banal meaning. Authors, however, do not typically share this viewpoint, as they have found that food can be utilized to reveal many hidden meanings behind characters or narratives. Lucy Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables and Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games are no exception to this fact. Both Montgomery and Collins weave food into their stories with the purposes of highlighting power dynamics between figures, as a means of revealing critical information about the story, and to emphasize transitions between significant milestones in the characters’ lives. Although greatly different genres of children’s literature – Anne of Green Gables, being…
The book Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is a fictional story based in the future about an event in which cities (districts) participate annually by the coercion of the capitol. Two representatives, or tributes, are randomly selected each year to representative their district in this dreadful event. The plot is focused on a girl in her late-teens and her battles and struggles in the annual event, which is called the Hunger Games, or just the Games. The Hunger Games are characterized as an annual celebration in the capitol and reminder to the districts of the power in which the capitol holds over the twelve districts. But to the districts, the Games represent annual sacrifices of usually two of the poorest young men and women since more food is given to poor families if their teenage children are entered multiple times in the selection. The fact that only one survives out of the twenty-four tributes selected for the Games from twelve districts lead the families of the districts to perceive the selection for the Games as the selection for sacrifice.…
For the first time in my entire life I was understanding in a new level what was happening in the book. I was playing the scenes out in my head and actually enjoying the read. I saw the horse running through the fields, big and muscular. I imagined a below average size boy taming and training the ginormous creature. It all finally came together. I was overjoyed at the end of the book and I was ready for another exhilarating read. After this it took me a while to find another book that could match up to the previous one. But after a while I found a few more books that gave me the same exciting…
The love Katniss show in the book is very relevant right at the beginning of the book when Prim, Katniss younger sister, is choose to be in the hunger games. Katniss’s love for her sister propels her to volunteer and take Prim’s place in the Hunger Games. She knows that if she goes into the hunger games she will die but does it anyway. Katniss doesn’t just love her sister she also loves her mom, the town she lives in, and a boy named Gale. She desprentaly want to go home once she leaves and fights for her freedom to go home throughout the book. Her relationship with gale is confusing to her but reader know that she loves him “Finally, Gale is here and maybe there is nothing romantic between us, but when he opens his arms I don't hesitate to go into them” (Collins 38) She tries to deny it but readers should be able to figure it out.…
The Hunger Games has become a major obsession of mine, and no the title has nothing to do with food. Reading and anticipating The Hunger Games trilogy and its upcoming movie is, during which my grandmother was sick, something I clung too. You see I have never been a major fan of anything. I mean Taylor Swift is an idol of mine but I’m not running to the nearest store to buy her CDs or items. But this fan base love for the book and movie almost drove my family insane.…
“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!” announced Effie Trinket, the escort of the District 12 tributes. She tried to encourage the tributes to be happy about being chosen; that it is somewhat of an honor to be selected to participate in the Hunger Games, yet was unsuccessful. The Hunger Games is the first book in an amazing trilogy written by Suzanne Collins, that follows the story of Katniss Everdeen and how she survives The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is an annual tournament where the Capitol randomly picks one female and one male from each district to compete against one another for survival. Katniss follows the Hero’s Journey in The Hunger Games because she met her Mentor, was Tested and made Allies and Enemies, and went through an Ordeal.…
I really enjoyed the hunger games I felt that is was a rich young teen novel. In discussing in a bigger picture all the complications a child can go through when faced with poverty and no parental support. I liked that the hero and the main chatters was a young female, when it was first introduced Gale seemed like the story heroic male hunter, which they break off and have KAtniss go in as a tribute from District 12. This story isn’t mainly focused on a love stories but doing what it takes to survive and get by with mina, using courage and wisdom not only physical aspect/ characteristics. She is faced with having a hurt people and see people get hurt with no help.…
