Argument Essay: Reason That Teachers Should Carry Concealed Weapons
Since 2010 there have been thirty-one school shootings in the United States alone (Black). In this past year, the year of 2013, there have already been 8 school shootings in the USA (Black). Eight school shootings in one month. That number is outrageous and not healthy for our students to have the best learning experience. No student deserves to go to school fearing that they may fall victim to violence at their school. I believe that our schools can be made safer by a law being written that teachers should be allowed to carry concealed firearms in school. It is best for teachers to carry firearms to school because it will provide safety to all school, security to inner city schools, and increase the respect of the students,
The most important part of the learning experience is the safety of the students and teachers. We cannot expect the best learning experience for our students when already this year 5 students have died, and another nine have been injured in a total of eight shootings (Kavanagh). We are a month into a new year and we have already had eight school shootings in our great nation (Black). These 8 shootings have occurred in eight different states, and they have occurred in colleges and schools public and private (Mungin). In these days it seems that all schools are at risk and none are safe from the violence that people can place on these schools. Many would say that this isn’t what we want school about for our kids. But wouldn’t we want our students to come home safe than in a body bag? I’m sure the parents of those five dead students would like that. There is no point for violence to occur where it can be prevented by a simple fix. That is why teachers need to carry concealed firearms.
