A Strange Dream
It was a quiet night. The shadow that covered my place turns dark and blank. The light approaches me as if the light shows me something. At a very far distance, there was a light, too. I heard a voice from a distance. It was my mother's voice, it seems like she's crying and shouting for help. Then the distance between us became nearer and nearer. But, there was a murderer holding a gun, trying to chase my mother. I followed them. The murderer chased her until he killed and shoot my mother. The murderer then ran away. I stood up, like I was paralyzed. I cried, alone. The scene began to fade out.

There was another light. It was my father, from a distance. "Father!" I shouted to him, but he didn't even turn his head to me. I ran towards him. There's someone chasing after him, holding a knife. Another murderer. I tried to shout to my father but the scene goes on running on and on. And it stopped. My father was killed too, like my mother. I cried endlessly. The scene again faded out and vanished.

"I have to find my sister and my brother and I should kill whoever that murderer is!", I said to myself bravely. Looking in any direction, I found a double light. I knew it was my sister and my brother and I also knew that they were going to be killed next. So I ran over to them. But I was too late, they were both killed and dead. I fell down, lying and crying unconsciously. The scene faded out.

When I woke up, I have tears in my eyes, and I fell asleep. From that dream that I have, I now realized how much pain do you have if you have if you lost all of your family. I can't live without them. I can't live myself living

I closed my eyes and as I opened them I was looking straight at my mother. That instant our eyes were locked I never wanted the lock to break. I’m sorry mom.” In an instant the noise grew so loud it seemed like I was standing in the middle of a nuclear bomb. Not a second later it was silent and the world around me went pitch…

I couldn’t sleep at all last night. The nightmare of the past events haunted me all throughout the night. The visage of the body being laid out and defiled in the middle of the cold, barren road was still within my head like looking at myself in the mirror. I was near the brink of collapse, unable to bear what had just happened. I stayed in bed till about midday when I woke up from my slumber, my face dry from tears.…

Martin Luther Kings’ speech does not have a uniform tone. The speech begins with a disheartening and accusing tone, shown by using two different phrases to express the same meaning: ‘five score years’ and ‘one hundred years’. Even though the two phrases both mean a hundred years; ‘five score years’ seems to have a much shorter time span than ‘one hundred years’; as if the date when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed is still vivid in minds, but after a hundred years, a long period of time, the proclamations’ intension is still not fulfilled, thus conveying a sense of accusation and disappointment. King then used the repetition of ‘one hundred year later’ to culminate the solemn and empathetic mood the audience experience. ‘crippled’ emphasizes that segregation and discrimination are like manacles and chains that literally handicapped Negros’ lives, but it also has the connotation to call on sympathy for the suffering Negros. The contrast employed in ‘lonely island of poverty’ and ‘vast ocean of material prosperity’ visualized the inequality in the society.…

As the car got a bit near, it seemed to be an injured man. As fast as a jaguar, the car had lost its control. Mom couldn’t apply brakes. It looked as if an accident is going to take place. The car stopped making a dreadful noise. We looked back there was no one. Mom got off the car. Looked around. What was it? Was it a zombie? Or really a man? We were truly scared. My heart was beating like anything. We reached home-safe and sound. What happened that night nobody knows. We didn’t share this incident with anyone. It was forgotten and considered only a rainy…
