Reservoirs can lead to the chance of flooding which would not only affect the land but also the life. This could greatly affect life nearby the flooding, including loss of plant and animal life, which would have a huge impact on the areas ecosystem. Reservoirs also affect the sediment levels of water and thus lead to higher levels of erosion…
When the Elwha Dam was demolished it was the largest controlled sediment release in a dam removal project anywhere in the world. Because of the amount of sediment behind large dams like the Elwha, the demolition must be done gradually over time to ensure that there is not an overflow of sediment rushed down the river which could cause significant damage to the landscape and the organisms which inhabit it. At the time of the dam removal the Elwha was holding behind it 15,000,000 cubic yards of silt. Sediment buildup isn't the only thing that dams can change about the soil. Many geological occurrences have been blamed on dams.…
Inspired by the achievement of the American Revolution, the people of France decided to protest against the unjust monarchy and have a revolution of their own. France needed a change in leadership, and a shift in power in order for this revolution to be a success .Unfortunately, for the people to get what they needed from the government, they took drastic and disturbing measures to make their voices heard. Through this France not only left an impact on themselves, but influenced other nations in need of change in their governments.…

Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day... There are only so many tomorrows.”. Mortality is something that is very easy to forget in our day to day lives. If you waste the time that you have you don’t ever get it back. Time is a limited resource and one day you will die, so use your time and opportunities wisely. Wasting time in front of a TV watching shows that won’t make any difference on your life in a week isn't productive. Too many people put things off in life. They claim they will get it done next week or tomorrow, yet never accomplish these tasks. Constantly making up an excuses to push off things until a later date is the least productive tactic. You can't wait for the perfect moment in life, because there is no such thing. This moment is the only moment that you can control, so reach for it it and don’t let it slip away, because nothing is guaranteed.…
The American Revolution could of been avoided in many ways. Great Britain was the main problem for this event. Though, some historians believed the revolution should not of happened. The Revolutionary leaders we think of during that time were different than we interpreted. The Revolutionary leaders could of not give any care about independence.…
The American revolution could've possibly have been a mistake. Towards the north of Canada, south to Australia, they separated in a more peaceful manner. The colonist may have been taxed, but they could've solved the problem in a more reasonable manner.…
If the British managed the colonies better, there may be a chance that the Revolution could have been prevented, or at least forestalled.…

It is simple: we learn from our mistakes, and act based on what we have learned. We already realize that the Holocaust was a horrible tragedy, and it should never have happened, but that is only the beginning. We should take the destruction that we learned can happen so easily because of us, and take that into consideration when doing something big. This can range from choosing leaders, to going to war. If we take that destruction into consideration, that can prevent such disasters from happening and make the world a better…
It is better not to put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Many consequences can arise when one procrastinates. An example of this is found in Shakespeare’s Hamlet through the depiction of the central character. Although Hamlet is characterized as daring, brave, loyal, and intelligent, he is overwhelmed by his own conscience. The tragic hero is defined as one whose downfall is brought about due to their tragic flaw. Hamlet’s inability to act on his father’s murder, his mother’s marriage, and his uncle assuming of the thrown are all evidence of his tragic flaw of procrastination.…
If the people hadn’t rebelled against their king, France wouldn’t have developed its economy and they would have continued with the problem of social classes.…
The French Revolution was a major transformation of the society and political system of France, lasting from 1789 to 1799. During the course of the Revolution, France was changed from an absolute monarchy, to a republic of supposedly equal and free citizens. The effects of the French Revolution were widespread, both inside and outside of France, and impacted all of Europe. At times the outcome of revolt led to social change and at times it just led to unnecessary bloodshed. Was this revolution inevitable? Was there something different that the government or people could have done to prevent the horrible atrocities of The Reign of Terror under Robespierre and his men? There are clear social, economic and political changes that could have been made too prevent this revolution from occurring when it did. However, although the government could have postponed this revolution, it was also somewhat inevitable, because of the great differences in the society of the peasants and the nobles divided the entire society. The government was also just trying to make too many things right at the wrong time and this is why they could possibly have not avoided the French Revolution.

Economically, many changes could have been made in the way that would have prevented such anger arising from the people. However, there are also a few problems that could not have been avoided. Economic decline in the 1770s may have frustrated some bourgeois in their rise to power and wealth, and rising bread prices just before the Revolution certainly increased dissatisfaction among workers and peasants. France also suffered from harsh economic problems. Poor farm harvests by farmers hurt the economy, and trade rules from the Middle Ages still survived, making trade difficult. At this time, the gap between the rich and the poor was becoming greater, with the poor becoming poorer, and the rich becoming richer. A central bank was nowhere to be found, there was no paper currency and in general,…
This quote means a lot to me because of the meaning behind it. Essentially the quote says that if someone was to slow down or even turn to look back something could catch up to that person. To the average person this may be just another thing that doesn’t affect their life what so ever, so to understand the quote it has to be thought about in depth first. It is a quotes that combines many common sayings into another saying, and while it…
