A place that is special to me
A special place A place that is special to me, as cliché as it sounds, would have to be my room. All throughout my life my family and I have moved from house to house pretty consistently. Growing up I never thought of any place we would visit or where we lived as a special place to me because I knew within a year or two we would be living somewhere new. Packing up your whole life into brown cardboard moving boxes, getting into a moving truck that would always smell of cigarettes and sweat and going into a strange new house was fun for the first few moves; it felt like an adventure at first but year after year of the same routine it just started feeling normal to me. I used to think it was strange that my friends had never moved from their first house while I was going on to another house but as I grew up, I realized that it was strange to move as often as my family did. In total my family and I have moved from strange house to stranger house 12 times in my 19 years. Although I have always lived in Arizona but that is 12 new houses, 12 years of being the new kid at a different school, 12 years of unpacking just to repack 11 months later, and starting the cycle all over again. I could never keep track of the all cities we lived in, or the number of schools I bounced around and back to but I could always remember how my room was set up in every single house. I did not have a choice as to which new city we lived in or moved back to, or what new school I was blindly tossed into but I did have choice as to how my room could look. That was always my favorite part of moving, I knew no matter what I would be able to organize and decorate my room the way I wanted it to be. I used to think moving was kind of stressful to me because my family usually procrastinated until the day or two days before so my family would rush packing. We would go without sleeping for that day or those two days just packing everything and doing late night moving runs. But to me being able to have

I place that that has been especially meaningful to me is the house I grew up in as a child before I moved to Wheaton. This is the house where I hold all of my fondest childhood memories. During the time I grew up in this house my siblings and I were all homeschooled. We lived in a very quiet neighborhood next to a huge golf course. Right next to our house was a creek where I have dozens of memories of building forts, searching for frogs and exploring with my two oldest siblings. It's meaningful to me because this was the most peaceful time of my life and a time where I developed great childhood memories with my…

One of my favorite places on earth is a baseball field. The sounds that a person could possibly hear are unbelievable. A person nose becomes their best friend at a baseball game because without it, the game would not mean as much. Just going to a game and listening to everything a person can hear was life-changing for me. Everyone can find a reason to love the game of baseball for one reason or the other. I will never forget my first day at the baseball field. It was a day that helped shape the rest of my…

Many places hold memories that are sparked by special occasions. School, home, church, and work are some places that hold many memories for me. But there is only one place that stands out the most. New York City is the place that has captured my heart. I have tons of memories being a child and going into the big city. Now that I'm older I get to experience the city alone. I love leaving the small town of Iola and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the big city. I also love all the different smells, food, and people. In my opinion you will not find another place like New York City.…

When I think of a meaningful place, I think of my bedroom. A place like my bedroom is where I can relax and be comfortable. I think that is why it is important to me, because I can be myself and feel comfortable in there. I can also just sit down and rest my body. Another reason is I can go there when I want privacy. I can shut the door, maybe even lock it and tell everyone in my household not to disturb me. My room holds most of my personal belongings there and they are important to me. Therefore I do not let any and every one in bedroom because that is my place of treasures and comfort.…

My most favorite place has always been my grandmother’s house. This is the place I would have to go to before and after school. I have always loved my grandmother’s house because it made me feel safe and warm. There was a smell of coffee in the air at all times. It seemed as if all my grandmother did was make coffee. If I smell coffee, I instantly think of my grandmother’s house. My grandmother’s house will always be filled with people. I can remember sitting in a chair watching her do hair. She would take a comb and straighten her clients’ hair. The smell of burning hair would linger in the house for days.…

Always on my son's birthday we are doing something special. This year we surprise him with trip to Legoland. Although he had been there before, he still loves it. Also on this day, for first time, they hosted a firework extravaganza. It was school time that I had plenty of time to organize the visit. I invited his best friends: Katie, who is a year older than him, and Daniel - eleven-year-old boy, living next door. I bought some threats for all of us. In the morning he woke up much exited; still wondering what we are planning for the day. We told him we were going someplace special to keep the secret. Unfortunately the weather wasn't too good: it rained and it was cold, but this didn't put a stop on our plans. And thanks for that because when he sow the LEGOLAND’s logo he couldn't stop smiling. On the gates he had been threatened with birthday badge which made him so proud. We had a fabulous day at the park. It was busy even if the weather wasn't good but we managed to get on most of the rides. My little boy felt like this place was built for him - he loved being given the opportunity to drive a car and to be part of firefighting team, he built amazing things with Lego bricks. In the evening we were amazed with the most spectacular fireworks I ever seen. Even the rain stopped that we completely enjoyed on every moment. We bought 3D glasses for all of us which transformed the fireworks into Lego bricks. On our way home my son told me that he had the most fabulous birthday ever. His reaction and his smiling face were worth everything - the cold, the rain, the money.…
