A Million Nightingales Unconditional love from Moinette to her mother was the most beautiful feelings this novel transmitted to me. The love she had for her mother gave Moinette mental peace and guts to be able to live and survive her struggles. During Moinette’s childhood she experienced the most intense and sweet feelings from her mother, she felt love from her mother’s look, care and silence. Moinette admired her mother and loved everything about her, from her sewing to her brave, for Moinette her mother was perfect. After Moinette was taken away from her mother when she was fourteen and placed in a boat, her love changed. “Msieu, I have nothing to take with me. I need to get back and get my things. Please.” (71) “You have what you need,” he said. (72)
The only thing Moinette had when she was taken away from her mother and placed in a boat, where neither of them knew where the boat would take Moinette. She only had love. The love that lived between both of them was the love that kept both of them alive or La-bas for the rest of their lives. Moinette’s love to her mother changed since the day she was taken away from her, but also it had gotten stronger at the moment Moinette suffered her mother’s pain.
And Memere – she had been a child on the boat.
