A Description of the United Nations Organisation
UNITED NATION ORGANISATION
1. The United Nations Organisation was formed on 24 Oct 1945 after the II World War. The main aim of this organization was to avoid III World War and to provide a platform for dialogues. It is an international organization which looks after rights, economic developments, social progress, disarmament and achieving world peace.
2. The world United Nations was given by Winston Churchill and Franklin D Roosevelt in 1942. The organization runs with six languages i.e. Arabic, Chinese, English, France, Russian and Spanish. The first meeting of UNO was held in London with 51 countries in 1946 and India is one of founder country of the UNO.
3. ORGANS OF UNO
(a) General Assembly. Whenever any major question arises in UNO, all countries deliberate & vote. A bill is passed only with 2/3rd majority. (b) Security Council. It consists of 5 permanent members and 10 non permanent members. The 5 permanent members are USA, UK, France, China and Russia, who have veto powers. And the other 10 non permanent members change after an interval of 2 years. (c) Secretariat. It is headed by Secretary General and assisted by staff of international civil staff. (d) International Court of Justice. It provides justice to all member countries. (e) Economic & Social Organisation. It is consist of 54 member countries. The main aim of this organization is to assist General Assembly in promoting international economic and social cooperation for development. (f) Secretary General. It is headed by secretary general, who acts as leader of UNO.
4. UNO has some more organizations to maintain progress and development through out the world. These are WHO, ILO, IMF, UNICEF, and UNIDO etc.
5. The UNO has laid out following Millenniums Development Goal (MDG):-
(a) Eradicate extreme hunger and poverty. (b) Reduce child mortality. (c) Promote gender equality and women empowerment. (d)
