Epidemiology Epidemiology is the study of health-determinant patterns in a population. It accompanies public health research and consists of gathering information on a specific area or group of people and doing research on their well being and physical health. This research can help identify trends pertaining to disease among people and whether or not such diseases are related to the habitat in which they live. These studies help to inform policy decisions and evidence-based medicine by identifying risk factors for disease and targets for preventative medicine.
