Introduction
Homosexuality is a universal phenomenon existing in china as well as in many western countries, from ancient times to modern times. As movements towards homosexual rights mushroom and our society becomes more open, a growing number of people are calling for legalizing Same-Sex marriage, claiming that the current Marriage Law is unjust to homosexuals. On the contrary, the opponents are asserting that this kind of legalization will do harm to our society from many aspects. Yet, upon a closer examination on this issue, we can find that it is not a simple debate over whether to legalize this form of marriage or not. It is a complicated topic, divisive, and not readily amendable to compromise.

In China, homosexuals have gained more and more recognition and respect from the society in recent years. On Feb. 26th, 2011, Yinhe Li, a famous sociologist proposed in her wangyi microblog that Same-Sex Marriage be legalized. Such a proposal fueled the legalization debate overnight. It is a conflict between reality and tradition, minority and majority, individual and society, and perhaps most important of all, between the desperate need for legal protection and the inherent belief.
Those who strongly condemn such an attempt insist that it will distort the youth’s value system, do harm to our social structure which is based

The topic of same sex marriage is one that causes great debate in today’s society. There are many views on weather it should or should not be allowed and the effects it could have on the United States if it were allowed. The debate has been an ongoing one and as more states begin contemplating legalization the debates have become more heated. In an article written by Katha Pollitt, entitled What’s Wrong with Gay Marriage? , she argues for the legalization of same sex marriage making a multitude of valuable points. In an opposing article entitled Gay “Marriage”: Societal Suicide by Charles Colson her argues in opposition against same sex marriage using statistics and history to make his valid points. Both writers argue their points exceptionally but Pollitt’s essay is the better one as it is incredibly fair and reasonable and argues the opposition’s points perfectly.…

My main focus on writing this speech is solely on promoting/legalizing same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage ought to be legalized in Canada for a simple fact that not doing so would in itself be a direct contradiction of what out great nation state is all about. All men are created equal so why all men are not treated as such is a tragedy that should be rectified. People who are opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage are inhumane, treating gay people with lack of respect1. If you have human feelings, you will legalize same-sex marriage2. Our orphanages are not full, but we want them to be as empty as possible, gay couples biologically can’t have children on their own, everyone knows that, however many gay couples that want children would revert to adopting 3that means that a lot of orphans would be given loving parents, a better home and proper education4.…

The traditional view of marriage is that; it brings a man and woman together in a permanent relationship to the exclusion of all other parties (Shanton, Maier, 2009). No human society has ever embraced same sex marriages in the history of humanity. There has been considerable tolerance to same sex unions but they have never been taken to be morally equal to marriages.…

Gay marriage has been subject to taboo because our society has this conformed and learned version of marriage; marriage is only held between a man and a woman. Although this is more common today to hear of gay couples, in the first couple centuries in America this was almost unacceptable to general society. Beginning in 2001 was when gay marriage began to become much more widespread starting in Canada, Norway, Belgium, Argentina, Sweden, South Africa, and Iceland. The actual first introduction of gay marriage does vary from different jurisdictions. Gay marriage is such a topic of interest because of the various conflicts in which it brings up, such as religious, civil rights, social, moral, and political issues.…

Two definitions from two different dictionaries are as follows: "The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife", "The state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a legal, consensual and contractual relationship recognized and sanctioned by and dissolvable only by law." It is quite ironic how it is stated, "…union of a man and woman…" and does not say nor hint at "man and man" or "woman and woman". These definitions were derived from mankind, mankind that put an effort in building as what we all know as America. America 's government was established with the belief in God, and therefore allowing same sex marriage is a contradiction to our founding fathers and the government we are sanctioned upon. This paper will discuss and analyze same sex "marriage" through the foundation of our government, moral views, homosexual views, and holy matrimony verses a union of two persons.…

Homosexuality has been a part of public consciousness in the United States for more than the past hundred years. Only recently has homosexuality been widely accepted as something other than a psychological disorder, but rather a trait (whether genetically or environmentally determined) which a person has the right to express. Some argue that homosexuals have a right to enter into legally recognized marriages with someone of the same sex. I tend to agree, and in this essay I will employ utilitarian and rights-based perspectives to illustrate why same-sex marriage is morally permissible and worthy of legalization.…

Gay marriage has been debated heavily in recent years. In this ethical dilemma, there are two sides: Those in favor of gay marriage tend to use arguments for legal matrimony, joint tax fillings, human needs, civil rights, justice, etc. On the other side of the issue, most “opponents” and defenders of the Holy Bible (God’s Word) hold religious and morals established by the founding fathers who specifically chose the Holy Bible as the basis for our Constitution.…

Gay marriage is a highly debated argument in the United States. Many people think that everyone should have the ability to get married. However the U.S supreme court ruled 5-4 0n Friday, June 26, 2015 that it is legal for all Americans, no matter their gender or sexual orientation, to marry the people they love. Gay marriage should not be legalized in the United States because it is not marriage. It offends God and denies a child either a mother or a father.…

In our investigation into the possible effects that same-sex partners could have in our community if our State and Federal Government were to legally recognize same-sex marriages seems we concentrated on the historical, moral, religious, social, political, and economic aspects that this issue could raise. We accomplished this task by having each group member cover a specific aspect of the issue. Each group then, investigated their chosen aspect through various research tools available to them. Group members used Internet and electronic resources to find articles on the issue, watched local and national news programs about the issue, and reviewed local and national articles about the issue to gain background knowledge on the issue of same-sex marriage. Group members then applied their research and interviewed local members of our community to help gauge our communities feeling on the issue.…

There are many problems faced by the society today. One of which is the issue regarding gender equality. Such problem, if observed, is caused by one common factor - difference. Differences in people have caused a lot of problems and havoc in the society, be it differences in religion, opinion, skin color, gender or even the tiniest of things. The reason why most people are against those who are different or special is because the people would feel threatened. One concrete example is found in the bible itself. The Exodus tells us the story of the enslaved Jews in Egypt. The Egyptians feared that the Jews will one day oppose them and so, they turned the Jews into mere workhorse. Another reason is people regard themselves superior than their fellow men. The Apartheid is an example of that. The Apartheid is a system of racial segregation where black people are deprived of their rights and citizenship and the ruling sect are the whites. But now, fortunately, the world has been continually adjusting to the differences among people because of the call for equal rights.…

The beliefs of American society are rapidly changing, and one of the most important and argued social issue of this generation is same sex marriage, and marriage equality. Members of the gay community felt as if they have waited long enough and demand that changes should be made, but American lawmakers aren’t as progressive as the gay community would like them to be. Marriage is an institution that is controlled by the state, as suggested by Kerry Howley; “Marriage... is a three way contract in which one party, the state, greatly outweighs the other two”. She emphasizes that even if the majority of American citizens support equal marriage rights for homosexual couples, the Government will always have the final word. The main argument against gay marriage is that it is strictly a religious institution, which prohibits same sex marriage. Anna Quindlen says that “No religion should be forced to marry anyone in violation of its tenets, although ironically it is now only in religious ceremonies that gay people can marry, performed by clergy who find the blessing of two who love one another no sin”, which essentially means the best course of action for homosexuals seeking the quickest solution to their marriage equality dilemma is to forget about marriage, and to create a new secular institution for all non religious people/relationships.…

    Gay Marriage & Politics

Gay marriage has been an international debate over the past few years. Not only have religious groups made their opinions known, but the politicians have also joined in, in either support for or in protest against. Is their confirmation of gay marriage just a political strategy to gain votes? Do they believe homosexual relationships in fact deserve the same benefits as a heterosexual union? Do they see this equality as a moral issue or something that is truly unconstitutional? In this paper we will analyze whether democrats are more pro “gay marriage” than their republican counter. Any subject in politics will always be a competitive debate between the democrats and the republics. There are subjects such as abortion, gun control, and same sex marriage. In today’s society it seems that the Democrats and Republicans are more divided than ever before. It seems that the Democrats focus more on the needs of the citizens; whereas, the Republicans are more focused on what is sacred to their voters and make the nation more abundant in their religious views. Besides the main economic crisis, another bipartisan debate today is same sex marriage. Democrats are more accepting of same sex marriage compared to Republicans.…
