Greetings -acknowledge God, Pastor, dignitaries, ministers, Deacons, mothers, etc.
Acknowledgements -thank special people, special observances, etc.
Scripture Reading(Philippians 3:12-14)
Prayer- Father God in heaven, it is once again that you have allowed me to stand behind the sacred desk and breathe the breath of life one more time. God I thank you that you will allow these your people to witness your awesome power. God I ask right now in the name of Jesus, that you would make every heart in this room that has not fully accepted you, uncomfortable so that through this message, you can speak to their heart and have them surrendering to your will and your way. God I know that this is youth day but lord help me to preach YOUR WORD to the young as well as the young at heart. Then God I ask that you will put Minister Lee in his seat and that you will rise inside of me, using me as a conduit to reach your children, with the aid of the Holy Spirit leading and guiding. Then God I ask by the authority of your word that you help me set the captives free, heal the broken hearted, and help the blind receive sight so that they may see their way through the storm, in Jesus’ immaculate we do pray. AMEN

Television as we know it today has drastically changed from the days of yesteryear. Even in my 23 years of living, I can still remember a time when you could actually learn something from watching television. I remember sitcoms like the Cosby Show, A Different World, and Family Matters. These were shows that left you with a sense of pride not only in yourself, but your family, and your community. However, somewhere along the line a paradigm shift happened, if you will and changed the course of television as we know it. The networks that broadcast our favorite shows that we trusted to educate us have now turned around and decided that it is more important to make billions of dollars a year entertaining its audiences instead of

Since its invention in 1928, the television has had a tremendous effect on many aspects of society. Now, unlike film, people could sit in the comfort of their own homes and look into different worlds and situations which they have never experienced before. Shortly after the implementation of the television set into the American household, the television series was developed and has dominated the air waves ever since. The television series offered an element that film could not. Rather than viewing a one-shot story, television series tell many stories over the course of long periods of time. Character development is much deeper than in film and long, drawn out stories can continue on story arcs over the course of each season. Many television…

It is true that “television entertains no issue that cannot be personified”(Seducing America.) Unfortunately, television must focus on what can be personified in order to retain the attention of its audience. Americans are restless and need constant shift in the media in order to keep them engaged. It wasn’t always like what it is today, before television everything was slower. It took longer for people to communicate and as a result took longer for things to change. In the current media climate, nothing is slow and the news is always changing because the internet allows Americans to keep in contact with the rest of the world. The beauty of it, is that as a human race we are more connected than ever. However, with all good things comes some evil.…

Have you ever heard someone say that they have no reason to be thankful? I was talking with a woman who was complaining on and on about everything you could possibly think of, and I said to her, "Why don't you focus on the things you have to be thankful for?" And she said, "I don't have anything to be thankful for: no one has ever given me anything. I work hard for everything I get and no one has ever helped me." I suggested she could be thankful that she was able to work, that she was in good enough health to work, that she had a job, and so forth. And she cursed at me. I felt very sad for her.…

The insight provided by Barbara Ehrenreich is probably the sort of thing nobody would ever expect to hear--to the American audience, television is superior, all-knowing, and as time-consuming as sleep. In the twenty-first century at present, television has evolved internally, externally, and culturally. There is high-definition programming that supposedly increases the experience of watching, digital video recorders that allow people to set aside time to watch their favorite shows when they please, and remote controls that probably have Easy Bake Ovens should one decide to look hard enough. This is not to say that all television is necessarily a bad experience (what with National Geographic, the History Channel, and news programming on every other station), but for the most part, it has come to exist for the sole purpose of entertainment.…

In its most current state, television shows force its younger viewers to grow up faster, making younger and younger kids do adult things. These reality shows exemplify things such as sex, drugs, violence, and self-harm. Television producers these days simply have no problem exposing the youth to this rubbish. In fact, the producers are specifically targeting the youth with their unmoral and controversial shows. They often reward the rebel characters with extra TV time or book them for another reality show, while the moral and respectable characters are made out to be boring and hardly ever get rewarded. America keeps asking what is making each generation less and less moral, but they fail to recognize what kinds of examples are being set. Children have not become more influential, they simply have been influenced by worse things. In the past few years, there has been a major change to reality television that diminishes its moral teaching reputation. From music videos of half naked women to reality shows full of betrayal, lies, and more vulgar than most can handle,…

Plus, television has provided a forum for politics, allowing republicans, democrats, and independents to voice their opinions on the state of our country and how to manage it. Television has always been criticized for promoting violence, sex, teen pregnancy, and our country’s growing obesity problem, but television has also been a way of bringing this country together and giving Americans the ability to open our minds to social and cultural changes like the civil rights movement and to draw strength from tragedy like the Kennedy Assassination or the Space shuttle Challenger explosion (Media and Culture Ch.…

They are tired of dismissing it as a mere distraction or else resenting it as the “evil twin” of universal education. Most of us, after all, like watching what we consider to be worthwhile, informative, or entertaining. Most educators are aware that the bumper-sticker invocation to “kill your television” has an ostrich-like impracticality. In the current political climate, the political options generally presented to deal with television have been, at best, fairly limited reactions to television’s perceived excesses. If we are to have a television system whose goals have more to do with public service than commerce - whether that means a greater diversity of images and representations, less commercial interruption, more documentary programming, or more educational children’s programs - we need to develop a citizenry that appreciates the politics of regulation and funding, to thereby imagine what television might be, and how the system might be changed to make it so. The challenge for media literacy, we would argue, is to make this possibility seem less…

Television is not the basic programs that were aired even a decade ago. There are now programs called reality television. Maryann Haggerty quoted, “In the blink of an eye, it seems, reality television has become a certifiable global pop-culture phenomenon.” There are currently over 200 reality television shows broadcasting all over the world. Any given subject can be found on television. You can watch a program from cooking, to life of a teen mother. With all the hours spent on watching such shows, I feel television has corrupted the world. Television is causing people to become, overweight; teens are using television as role models, and the world is using television for instant gratification.…
