Zoos are here to stay
First of all, a definition of zoo is needed. The word zoo is an abbreviated form of ‘zoological garden’. It can be described as a display of a collection of different animal species found in nature. Some people claim that zoos are modern-day arks, saving and breeding species from hunters or extinction. Some others, regret this, they say that animals are ill-treated and forced to perform acts for long periods of time.
To start with, zoos can be educational and also help to increase the numbers of endangered species through controlled breeding programmes, also circus animals are loved, well treated and only perform for short periods. What is more, animals used in TV, advertisements and films are appealing and attract large audiences and they have a very short working life and are well-treated throughout.
Secondly, animals are forced to perform unnatural acts for the pleasure of the public. In addition to this, racing animals have cruel training schedules and are often placed in unnecessary danger. Besides, with special effects, there is no need to use live animals as realistic models can be used instead.
All in all, whether animals should be kept in captivity or their natural environment is a matter of debate. Keeping animals in zoos can keep them safe. Mankind have to be conscious that we are not the only specie with life and rights. We have to give wild life the respect that it

I believe that animal captivity is bad for animals and that they should be running free and wild. wild animals in zoos suffer physically and mentally. Zoos are like internment camps and should be shut down. Animals deserve the right to live out their lives in their natural habitat, not be the source of human entertainment. Zoos are more detrimental to animals than they are good for them, even though there are conservation efforts and educational purposes for having animals in captivity. The negative aspects far outweigh any positive effects when it comes to having animals in captivity due to poor living conditions, failure to educate, and psychological trauma.…

Zoos appear to be fun, but as you get more in depth are they what they seem to be? If animals could talk they would answer that question with “no” but, they cannot. So, instead of them telling you the horrors of zoos, I will. In zoos, animals are forced to live in a small area and have to learn to adapt to a new lifestyle. Some animals suffer from serious problems that they would most likely not experience if they were not in a zoo. Zoos affect the animals wildlife, their natural behavior, and zoos cause injuries and deaths upon animals and humans.…

I, like many children, have been to zoos when I was younger. Upon visiting zoos, I have decided that zoos are very cruel to keep animals caged up, often in regions and climates very different from their natural habitat. For example, elephants travel for miles in packs, when in zoos there are only several elephants with only several acres to walk around.…

As humans inhabit more and more of the earth’s land, some species of wildlife are more likely to be found in captivity than in their natural habitat. But is that a good thing? Keeping animals captive might not be in our best interest. Caging theses animals up for zoo can be compared to imprisonment for animals. It makes profits for zoos and aquariums while these wild animals suffer. They take away from these animals being free, just so they can entertain humans. Lastly it takes away these the freedom of animals, preventing them from being truly what they are, and that is wild animals. So these animals shouldn't be captive to zoos and aquariums.…

For many years people have debated whether zoos are bad or good. There is the debate about animal cruelty to some extent because the animals are locked up in a cage where they have no freedom. And the other one is how animals in captivity is a good cause due to the dangers that are present in the wild now in days. These two points are an endless debate in which both sides are equivalent to each other. Yet I strongly believe that animals in captivity have more chance of survival than if they were released back into the wild.…

If you think about it zoos are sometimes the only reason a certain animal exists, for example the Red Wolf, Karner Blue Butterfly, and the California Carner were all saved from extinction by zoos! People love to come see animals at the zoo and with that many they get from customers a portion of it can be used for building habitats for animals close to extinction or high in value for poachers. Although some may argue that being in zoos captivates them but pretty much all the time the animals don't rebel. I think that having zoos help keep animals safe from certain outside forces that they stand no chance against like cars, weird weather conditions, and like I've been saying poachers.…

Animal Captivity Whether in the zoo or the circus wild animals produced in captive breeding programs are almost never released into the wild; instead, they are doomed to life in captivity. Holding animals captive is just as bad as holding people captive, which is horrible. Animals, just like humans, have emotional feelings, and no matter the reason, captivity should never be an option. Captivity and imprisoning should only be allowed for criminals and guilty people, but never innocent animals.…
