Police chief Rick is with his friend Shane they are sitting down in front of a campfire. Rick gets a sudden call about a burglary just around the corner.Rick and Shane are at the scene when they find themselves in an altercation with a group of people. Rick is shot and then blanks out and the group of people vanish off. Shane rushes Rick to the hospital and finds out that Rick is will be in a coma for a while. Eight months have past and Rick finally wakes up.
As he looks around the hospital room he notices something isn't right; there are dead flowers around him, curtains are on the floor, tables turned, broken glass everywhere. He gets up slowly and he is not feeling himself and looks around the room for his clothes. Rick finds his clothes in the closet and gets dressed.
Rick opens the door to the hallway and can't believe what he sees. He doesn't see any human life in the hospital Rick says out loud “Where are all the doctors, visitors, patients.” The next thing he realizes is that there is no sound at all in the hospital. As he walks threw the empty halls he comes to a room filled with body bags stacked on top of each other. He then hears someone call out his name and it startles him but then realizes that voice belongs to his friend
Shane. Rick yells to his friend and walks to the sound of the voice.
Rick asks Shane “What has happened?” Shane tells Rick that they both have to leave quickly and he will tell him later. As they leave the hospital they see abandoned cars, army tanks,

and dead bodies everywhere. Shane pulls Rick into his car and Shane drives to his house. On the way there Shane tells Rick “Everyone who had the flu shot has gotten sick.” The sickness has caused people to eat human flesh. Shane tells Rick “All our friends that are not sick are at my house.” On the ride home they see groups of what looked like people walking with a blank look

After being checked in, hospital staff sees that she has recently been there three other times for the same complaint. She is seated in the waiting room. She vomits blood and collapses on the floor; her family urgently contacts staff informing them of her problem. They ignore the complaint.
