The ‘East High’ Students have yet to graduate. Their senior year was what their next movie is about. Whilst everyone was sad to see the trilogy come to an end, we all wanted to know how it would pan out. The movies shows the fear that Zac and Gabriella experience while the end of their high school love approaches. They despise the idea of being separated once they go to college. It seems as while high school musical came to an end, Zac started a new era of himself. He became a new Zac and started acting in more provocative themed movies like “17 Again” in 2009 and “Neighbors” in 2014. Films like the 2016“Dirty Grandpa” are very inappropriate for younger viewers unlike his past high school flicks. Zac improved his acting and gained more fame in the process. His upcoming movie “Baywatch” looks very promising and Zac’s role as a sexy lifeguard almost fits him perfectly. That might be the reason every part he plays is so splendid. As Zac Efron himself matured and grew so did the theme of the movies he participated in. Speaking of maturing, Zac and Vanessa’s relationship ended way back in December, 2010 due to them fighting too much. Maybe they were stressed from all the movies they had to worry about, but in an interview with Dusty Baxter-Wright on March 27, 2017 Vanessa said, "I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares", so it is confirmed that it is Vanessa’s fault and Zac is innocent. After Vanessa Hudgens broke his heart, he found a new love in February, 2011 with an actress Teresa Palmer. After she got old, paparazzi found Zac in an off an on type of relationship with Lily Collins from 2012 to 2013. Apparently Zac has a thing for costars because as he was shooting “Neighbors” he became an item with Halston Sage in 2014. Nothing was confirmed but with the assumptions and suspicions of his fans it looked a whole lot like a relationship. He had a…

Unfortunately, human beings outside the high school microcosm I am much harder on. Maybe Justin Bieber (sp?) will evolve into Timberlake 2.0. Somehow I am skeptical, and many of you would consider even that faint praise. Anyhow, I work on it. I am also allergic to certainty. The older I get, the less sure I am of anything I've ever truly believed, with the exception of a few outliers, like Howlin' Wolf, A Confederacy of Dunces, The Wild Bunch, or peanut butter. If that worries you consider these lines of the poetic saint Emily Dickinson: "In insecurity to lie/Is joy's ensuring quality." She is not far wrong. Finally, music, books, and film (occasionally some of the other arts...and even sciences) are like oxygen to me. If I didn't have to earn…

Hey, pop culture consumers and the world at large, the New York Times wants you to know that there is a distinct difference between Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. In a recent piece by Jon Caramanica, the Times breaks down the professional and personal trajectory between the two rising starlets, comparing their similar beginnings and their increasingly divergent paths. In it, he writes, "Of late, Miley Cyrus, 20, and Selena Gomez, who turned 21 on Monday, have each been pushing back in different ways — Ms. Gomez with her role in the film Spring Breakers, and Ms. Cyrus with her sometimes erratic, sometimes free-spirited tabloid life." He then goes to argue the closer that Miley Cyrus' artistic output mirrors her personal life, the better she becomes.…

Teenage movies are movies which are specifically targeted at the adolescent audience. Most of them are staged at high schools because that is where the target audience spends most of its time. The rise of the teenage movie as we know it started in the eighties of the previous century. The hottest movie star in this genre at that time was Molly Ringwald. She played lead roles in movies like Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985) and in Pretty in Pink (1986). All of these movies have been dubbed ‘classics ' together with movies like Ferris Bueller 's Day off (1986), Dirty Dancing (1987) and others. The movies revolve around the lives of ordinary teenagers in ordinary, and sometimes not so ordinary, teenage situations. How the teenage movie rise came to pass? Purchasing power was on an all time rise in the 1980s and Hollywood discovered a new audience that was demanding yet more than willing to spend money on leisure activities such as going to the movies (Bernstein). It had no choice but to bend to the will of the consumer; thus the era of teenage movies was born.…
