Youth Violence Research Paper
An innocent 16-year old was shot by a drive-by shooter in Chicago. Later on, she was announced dead as her family claimed that she didn't deserve this. As you can see, youth violence is a major issue in this society and determined people are trying to go after one goal and that is to stop this from continuing. What are some of the main causes of youth violence? How has youth violence affected me? What can I do to help prevent youth violence from occurring?. These are the questions that I am concerned about. First of all, most of the primary causes of youth violence is alcohol, stress, child abuse, drugs, low self-esteem, and even by race. These are all mainly towards adults, parents, teens, and even children. From the past to the present, youth violence has been going on for many years. In fact, it will never be erased from humanity. I became cautious of my surroundings especially if it was pitch-black outside. For this reason, my family members would always worry about me for fear that I was going to get kidnapped. Sometimes, I hear or see violence in my neighborhood. For instance, I caught sight of a group of boys watching a guy pummel someone to the ground as I stood there silently, shocked which disbelief. As a result of this, I felt like my neighborhood was too dangerous and unsafe to even go outdoors. This changed my thoughts about other people so I had to decide whether I should avoid or converse with them. It is true that one person can make a big difference. There are numerous ways I can help prevent youth violence. For example, if I see another fight in school or anywhere else I can either call an adult for help or put an end to the violence myself. I can also be an upstander and protest against bullying. Either way, making these righteous choices are helping those who struggle and suffer from horrendous
