CONTRIBUTION OF YOUTH IN ENHANCEMENT OF PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT. A society is a group of people with common territory, interaction, and culture. People of the same society share aspects of their culture, such as language or beliefs. Multiculturalism relates to communities containing multiple cultures .It is the acceptance of multiple ethnic cultures at the organizational level. Interaction and communication between different cultures provide opportunities for the cultural differences to communicate and interact to create multiculturalism. Cultural isolation can protect the uniqueness of the local culture of a nation or area and also contribute to global cultural diversity. If the ultimate aim of nation building is to bring people together in a shared belief in democracy and good governance, “differences” need to be celebrated rather than treated as barriers between them to create peace. Peace is a state of harmony by the lack of violent conflict and the freedom from fear of violence. Peace also suggests the existence of healthy or newly healed interpersonal or international relationships.
Dalai Lama states;
“Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free. True peace with oneself and with the world around us can only be achieved through the development of mental peace.” Hence how can we build up peace? The process must involve in conflict transformation focused upon establishing equitable power relationships robust enough to forestall future conflict. We must create one nation united by values of love, respect, honesty, community and service. We should celebrate unity in diversity. There are many tools for conflict resolution that can be utilized to bring about peace ; Be positive, generous, honest, friendly, constructive, fair and kind, Respect and protect the Earth, Commit yourself to nonviolence, Support nonviolent solutions to global
