My favourite pop singer is an American recording artist, entertainer and businessman, often referred to as the King of Pop, or by his initials MJ. I think you could guess the name of my favourite pop singer – Michael Joseph Jackson. He is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by the Guinness World Records. His contribution to music, dance and fashion, along his much-publicized personal life made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. The 7th child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along his brothers as a member of “The Jackson 5”, then the “Jacksons” in 1964 and began his solo career in 1971. Most of his songs were written by him and became very popular all over the world. My favourite songs performed by him are “Remember the time”, “You are not alone”, “White and black”, “They don’t care about us”, “The Earth song” and so on. He showed his compassion when he and Lionel Richie wrote “We are the world” to raise money to help with relief efforts in Africa. Michael Jackson will always be remembered for his original dance performance – Moonwalk. He debuted his “Moonwalk” in 1983 and spread this dance style all over the world. His performance was very magnificent, as if he were sliding over the floor. Throughout his career he received numerous honors and awards, including the World Music Awards’ the Best-selling Pop Male Artist of the Millennium and American Music Award’s Artist of the Century Award. In his 30th he was diagnosed with vitiligo, because of which his skin partially lightened and grew pale. So, the rumors about Michael Jackson’s bleaching his skin wasn’t true. On June 25, 2009 pop star Michael Jackson died after suffering a heart attack. People may question the way he lived his personal life but there’s denying the impact he left upon pop music. He will be
