Yitzhak Rabin Influence
On November 4, 1995, peace almost died, when a Jewish extremist Yigal Amir at a peace rally in Tel Aviv assassinated the Israeli president Yitzhak Rabin. Yitzhak Rabin was perhaps the most “peace seeker” at that time, willing to do what ever it take to bring peace to Israel. The assassination of Yitzhak Rabin was unjustified, because he was seeking peace, he wanted to bring between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (P.L.O), and to bring peace with Syria. Yet, many citizens disagreed with his political actions, and his decisions.

Yitzhak Rabin influenced many people, yet many people did not accept it at all and did protests. Yitzhak Rabin transformation of territory to the Palestinians and to Syria was considered in their eyes as a violation of his promises from his election. According to the magazine article “shot in the heart,” when Yitzhak Rabin ordered to leave the settlements many people oppose and claimed that he was violating his election assurances (Filkins WEB). Moreover, Yigal Amir, Yitzhak Rabin’s assassin said that he was saving the Jewish nation by doing the Mitzvah of Messianism and that Yitzhak Rabin was seriously violating the word of god, as his “cover” he was backed by several Jewish leaders who “approved” his action of Messianism as valid. According to the magazine article “Rabin’s killer an Israeli pariah,” a Jewish extremist stopped Rabin, who thought that he was filling the mitzvah of Messianism (N/A WEB). Furthermore, citizen around Israel strongly were against the peace for two main reasons, first people who lived in the Gaza strip, West Bank and the Golan Heights did not want to move away and start their lives all over again in a different place. Second Israel battles against Syria and the Palestinian terror attacks led to a big cost of life in Israel, this made many Israelis to go against the peace with the P.L.O and Syria and were strongly against Rabin directly. According to the magazine article “shot in the heart,” people who lived in the Golan, West Bank, and Gaza since the Six Days War (1967) built villages, cities, and families were suddenly required to move and start their lives elsewhere (Filkins WEB). Filkins also add and say that in the past, Israel faced many loses from her enemies, and the citizens did not like the idea that Yitzhak would give territories to the same people that took their families
