Writing Assignment 1
Intro to Psych Science – Writing Assignment #1 The research article consists of a study done by the Michigan State University theorizing the fact that there is a correlation between the children’s extent of creativity and the use of information technology. The information technology (IT) issues considered in this research are: usage of cell phone, usage of Internet, usage of computer and playing of videogames. However, the renowned subject of today: playing videogames and its relation to creativity took part as the main target in this research as it is known that an estimation of 72 percent of American households play videogames or computer games according to the Entertainment Software Association. The survey consisting of 491 middle-school children of 12 years age is found that any gender of this age who play video games tend to be more creative in tasks such as creating stories and drawing pictures compared to the children who do not participate in much of this activity regardless of race and gender. The survey valuate on how frequently the participants utilize in various types of form of technology mentioned above and measured their creativity based on the “Torrance Test of Creativity-Figural” (L.A. Jackson 371) procedure. The children are to carry out two tasks, which will be acted out as stimuli to their creativeness. The first activity is known as the ‘Egg Story Test’ where a picture of a curved shaped is given, that takes after the form of an egg is to be completed by the children and a story based on the entire drawing is also to be provided by the participant. Secondly, the next activity is called the ‘Elf Story Test’ where a new picture of an elf-like creature with a background is displayed for the children to form a story out of it by specifically answering the questions asked on it. After having the children with exposure to usage of numerous technology engaged in this process, results show that children who played videogames score higher in both tasks than the rest of the children with the level of use of the rest of the information technology. It is mentioned in the article that creativity can be interpreted to being knowledgeable, imaginative and adventurous over matters with new ideas. Thus, by basing on the interesting and exciting drawings and stories the children have produced; this outcome proves that by engaging in videogames, one can be more creative in thoughts.
Additionally, the survey found variations in quantity and the type of games played by the genders: the boys playing violent games while the girls favor games that involved interactions within the game characters and boys playing games more than the girls. However, these factors do not have any effects on their creativity. On the contrary, the rest of the information technology is discovered as unrelated to any assessment of creativity.
In the popular press article, it has proposed that playing videogames for children can make them more creative in mind. Snider was able to support this statement by clearly associating to the study that takes place in Michigan State University from the research article. The children are tested out to complete drawings of their own and followed by their opinionated comments on the drawing, discovering that boys played more video games than the girls and preferred violent games over games that involved more interaction. This study was the most evidential experiment according to the research leader, Linda Jackson. Moreover, effects begin to develop concerning the video game players’ spatial processing which skill is enhanced in a Tun 3 person after indulging his time in video games. Having spatial processing skills coach a person to better the skills in technology, and science subjects in later life. Likewise, the use of Internet has proved that it has progress the children’ reading marks as well. As a matter of fact, researchers believe it will be very interesting for the children to be educated through entertainment such as video games that will bring entertainment and education more close to one another. Overall, the press article does not have much specific data on the topic that it is discussed unlike the research article. It was mostly written by putting together related issues concerning technology although it has more facts on the topic of playing video games. The author explained on many findings of correlations between creativity and video games. Consequently, there is a causal link found between one of them when the author related to being creative from playing video games to the spatial processes. This cannot be just implied readily as it is stating that creativity causes the spatial processes to rise. Causal conclusions cannot be made from correlations studies as each one should be tested out individually and it might be a mere coincident between the correlations of each variable. From my point of view, children absorbed in playing video games allow them to escape from whatever kind of harsh reality they are facing and permits them to a new dimension with different storylines of games. This admit them to play as other characters and extend their imagination more based on the story and be creative in story writing and other creations as well.

Abstract: Cell membranes play an important role in regulating what goes in and out of the cell. Diffusion, the process of movement of substances across the cell membrane from higher concentrations to areas of lower concentration, plays an active role in the transport and the regulation through cellular membrane. Sometimes, there are cases when cells are placed in hypotonic solutions and substances will diffuse through the cell membrane too much and will result the cell to hemolysis, causing it to swell and rupture. In this lab, we observed and recorded the time it took for diffusion of a propanol series substance to diffuse through a mixture of ovine blood to the point when hemolysis occurred. It was hypothesized that size and polarity of the molecules of a substance do have an effect on the diffusion rate across the cell membrane and that substances containing the smaller and less polar molecules would have a faster diffusion rate than those molecules that are more polar. This experiment was tested by mixing the ovine blood with the propanol series test solutions (Propanol, Propanediol, and Propanetriol) and then placing the test tubes of the blood and substance mixture in front a slit lamp to observe and then record the time it took to view the wire through the transparent mixture. After the lab was completed, it resulted that Propanol took the shortest amount of time to diffuse through the cellular membrane while Propanetriol took the longest amount of time, leaving Propanediol in the middle of the two. These results occurred as Propanol contained the least amount of hydroxyl groups and was the smallest and least polar. Propanetriol was the most polar of the three substances, containing three hydroxyl groups causing the diffusion to be the slowest. These results occurred because as the molecule in a substance becomes larger and more polar, the longer it takes for that molecule to…

Does limiting her targeted audience strengthen or weaken the overall impact of her argument? What does she want women to do? Finally, briefly summarize the four instructions she lays out for women.…
