Write an Explanation of What It Means to Have a Duty of Care in Own Work Role.
Many professions contain a duty of care, these include health, social care and education. Duty of care involves an obligation that a person in a specific role has to ensure that mo harm is made to a child or young person during a particular task. This involves giving the appropriate care and attention, watching out for potential hazards,preventing mistakes or accidents and making the right wise choices about the certain steps taken in a role. If duty of care is not met in a role the the person who was responsible can be held responsible and accountable for the negligence that has happened.

There are many examples of how we do this in my setting. Within the workplace we carry out daily checks to ensure that the environment inside and outside is safe for the children and young people, we do this in the morning, this includes making sure there are no hazards for them so they do not harm themselves. We have daily cleaning rotas which rotate, throughout the cleaning rotas we are ensuring cleanliness within the setting and stopping the spread of infection, this may include checking the toilets, wiping tables and making sure the general environment is clean and tidy. Also in my work setting if there is a child who is ill we take the appropriate action to prevent contamination of the other children.
The children's behaviour must be managed affectively and in a manner appropriate to there age and stage of the development and particular to there individual needs.
In my work setting we ensure that most of the staff have been first aid trained so in the event of an accident the staff now exactly what to do, also to make sure the accident forms are completed and are sighed by a carer/parent so they are aware of the incident.
Duty of care is a requirement to excersise a reasonable degree of attention and cation to avoid negligence which would lead to harm to others, your vigilance and attention keeps young children safe as the
