Term Paper Having gone through this class and seen all of the different styles of worship, and looking deeper into the Bible to have a correct view of God and worship in the church, has changed my perspective on how I view things this semester. In this paper, I will discuss my view of worship, drawn from the Bible, and also use some outside resources that help get my points and ideas across. I would like to walk through a brief overview of worship in the Bible and point out some key passages where it is mentioned, or has taken place. With each passage I will mention a few main points and briefly describe each one. From there, I will discuss other forms of worship such as contemporary, liturgical, and evangelical and then conclude with some other author’s views on worship. Genesis 22 is the passage where Abraham and Isaac go to the region of Moriah, and God ask Abraham to sacrifice his only son as a form of worship. When reading through these verses one cannot fathom how hard this might have been for Abraham to sacrifice and give up his only son, but we see no resistance. We also see no hesitation by the son Isaac, even though it seems he knows what is taking place. A few points to mention from this passage are, worship is preceded by obedience, provided by sacrifice, and made possible because of God’s provision of the Lamb. In I Samuel 16:23 we see Saul, who is overwhelmed by evil spirits, desires David to play his harp so that the evil will leave him. The Spirit of God would come upon Saul when David took his harped and played. Music can have great power over us and we need to recognize the potential of music. You can also have a spiritual experience and still live in disobedience, just like Saul. II Samuel 6 is the well known passage of scripture where the Ark of the Covenant is brought back to Jerusalem and a major celebration occurs. Many of us know what happens in this reference of scripture,
