The Cause of World War I

World War 1 is #3 in the deadliest wars in history. World War 1 began on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918. The total number of deaths includes about 70 million military personnel and about 60 million Europeans with another 9 million combatants killed. All of this was because of the differences in policies also including the assassination of Austria’s Franz Ferdinand.

Nationalism is the main reason that caused WWI because it created a territorial tug-of-war in Europe and nourished the Balkan crisis. The war encouraged the Balkan crisis of 1914 and this served as a fuel added fire in the First World War.
