These pamphlets contain a plethora of knowledge about finances and managing your wealth. Clason uses a series of tales that are staged in ancient Babylon to communicate his valuable ideas. The way that the applications of money handling are applied to these stories makes them engaging, but also very informative and practical. So practical, in fact, that they can be applied by those of modern day and be used to an even greater reward than they could almost 100 years ago when they were written. In the following pages, the most pronounced of Clason’s glorious stories will be summarized and evaluated so that every ounce of their worth and purpose can be seen.…

According to information divulged in the Berkshire Hathaway 2012 Annual Meeting Notes, in general, all of Berkshire’s companies, with the exception of the residential construction companies had shown good earnings growth in the first quarter of 2011. Each of Berkshire’s five largest non-insurance companies Burlington Northern Santa FE (BNSF), Iscar, Lubrizol, Marmon Group and MidAmerican Energy delivered record operating earnings in 2011 of more than $9 billion in aggregate. Unless the economy weakens in 2012, Buffett expects each of the “fabulous five” to once again set a record, with aggregate earnings comfortably topping $10 billion. In the first quarter 10-Q insurance section, Berkshire disclosed how an accounting change for GEICO on deferred policy acquisition costs resulted in a decline in earnings of $250 million although there was no impact on cash flow. GEICO had a terrific first quarter as float grew and the underlying business was better than presented. Buffett feels good about the first quarter and the year.…

Slim and his siblings were taught basic business practices by their father. At the age of 17, Carlos earned 200 pesos a week working for his father's company. He went on to study engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 1965 he incorporated Inversora Bursátil and then bought Jarritos del Sur. In 1966, already worth US$40 million, he founded Inmobiliaria Carso. Three months later he married Soumaya Domit and they remained married until her death in 1999. Construction, real estate and mining businesses were the focus of his early career. By 1972 Carlos had acquired a further seven businesses in these categories. In 1976 he branched out by buying a 60% interest in a printing business and in 1980 he consolidated his business interests by forming Grupo Galas as the parent company of a conglomerate that had interests in industry, construction, mining, retail, food and tobacco. In 1982 the Mexican economy, which had substantially relied on oil exports, contracted rapidly as the price of oil fell and interest rates rose worldwide. Banks and other businesses were nationalized, crippled or collapsed and the peso was devalued. At this time, and during the period of recovery to 1985, Slim invested heavily. He bought outright, or a large percentage of,…

The modern world and businesslike lifestyle have their features. One of the most typical is a competition between individuals and organizations. As described in the novel God Bless You by Kurt Vonnegut. When an employer pays big salary, employees are incredibly smart, in good shape and happy with their lives. Their primary occupation is undermining shares and assets of other corporations. Second priority engagements of partakers can become current affairs and privacy. Nevertheless, it can be clearly stated that even a poor man can achieve success in life and it can be supported by the content of the novel God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater.…
