In Christophe Clausen’s article, “Against Work,” he explores an idea of not working. In the reading, he contrasts the differences in attitude toward work between Americans and Europeans. Also, he addresses the questions about the essence of work and about the reasons of people engaging so much effort in to it. I believe Against Work is a successful article despite the fact that Clausen does not give his own definition of this topic clearly. He has a well-written introduction, body and conclusion. Also, Clausen has the clear and narrow theses in different parts of his essay. Lastly, Clausen has well explained examples and clear language to support his theses.…

On May 22, 2013 the largest closing of public schools, in history of the United States, occurred. The board of education of the Chicago Public Schools voted to close down 50 schools in the Chicago area (Bartlett). To no surprise, most of the schools if not all came from areas that had low-income neighborhoods consisting mainly of African Americans and Latinos on the south and west side of Chicago (Bartlett). Although the ex president George Bush said popular quote“ No child left behind”, what is happening in the Chicago Public schools is exactly the opposite. Even if every kid is given the opportunity to go to school some are being given a…

Depending on one’s geographic location and personal economic status, vacations are often regarded as the expected result of hard work or productivity. They typically act as a temporary pause on the stressors or difficult components of life and allow time for either relaxation or adventure. Despite this commonly held understanding, not all countries maintain such a positive opinion. Rather than a blissful escape from monotony, they instead view vacations as nothing more than a pitiful waste of time, energy, and critical resources.…

There are many incidents and emergencies that can occur in a health and social care setting regardless of how careful an organisation is and how many precautions they take. The health care setting I will be talking about is a hospital, and the priorities and responses that should take place when dealing with incidents and emergencies within it. Priorities are steps that need to be taken in the case of an emergency or incident that are considered more important over other plan of actions. A response is what action is taken after the emergency or incident in order to prevent it from recurring or minimising the risk and likelihood of it happening again. I will be discussing the three most important priorities and the response that follows in the case of a possible emergency or incident in a hospital.…

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to recognize one’s own emotions and those of others and to analyze these emotions to guide one’s personal thinking and actions. Previous research indicates that people are more effective at their jobs when they have a good understanding of emotions. EI is divided into five categories; self-awareness, self-management, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills. Understanding one’s own EI provides insight into one’s management abilities including: leadership, individual performance, group performance, interpersonal/social exchange, managing change, and conducting performance evaluations (“Emotions and emotional intelligence“, 1996). This papers focus is the cumulative analysis of my own EI (also known as social intelligence) and the interactions that may occur in my University of Phoenix team.…

I look at everything in my life and ask myself questions about which ones are the most important. If something is getting in the way of my top priorities it has to be cut. I list things in order of importance and decide how much time I have and put them into that time and anything left needs to be removed from the list. Sometimes it’s hard to cut things you really want to keep but those are the decisions we have to make to keep ourselves in order.…

The report examines how much time the FSD students in 2009 spent on self-studying and the effect of this on their average mark. According to the FSD teachers’ advices, every student should spend at least 3 hours in studying English at home. It was enough time for you to revise the whole lesson and do your homework. If the result supports this claim, the effective study will be considered. To perform the survey, from the population of all FSD students, a sample size of 50 was chosen randomly (50% students coming from A group, and 50% students from D group) to answer the questionnaire including 5 multiple choices questions. The data collected are used to perform the t- test for means, which reveals that at 5 % level of significance, more than 36% of respondents spending 3 hours, in self-study. The purpose of this topic is that we focus on the most basic question: “how to study effectively without stress”. It will be extremely beneficial for next generations of FSD.…
