Automobile accidents

Have you ever asked yourself what are automobile accidents and how are they caused? Well according to the Wikipedia free online encyclopedia “automobile accidents also known as traffic collision occurs when one vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, road debris, animal or any other stationary obstruction which causes injury, vehicle damage, property damage or even death”. Research has proven that today the most common causes of automobile accidents are; the use of cell phones while driving, drinking and driving and inexperienced/underage drivers. There are more than six million car accidents each year just in the United States, (Daniel’s blog, paragraph two) and it is estimated that the use of cell phone while driving is the leading cause of automobile accidents. In society today cell phones are used for various reasons one of the many reasons is texting and it is a major problem. Texting while driving causes “1,600,000 accidents per year” – National Safety Council, “330,000 injuries per year” – Harvard Center for Risk Analysis Study, “11 teen deaths EVERY DAY” – Ins. Institute for Hwy Safety Fatality Facts and nearly 42% of ALL car accidents. Using cell phones while driving is not only an irresponsible thing to do but also unkind and selfish.
Although cell phones while driving is the leading cause of automobile accidents, drinking and driving is also another contributing factor. According to the national council on alcoholism and drug dependence Inc. “an estimated 32% of fatal car crashes involve an intoxicated driver or pedestrian”. Drinking alcohol while driving is almost the same as driving with a blind fold around your eyes. Alcohol affects attentiveness and a person’s ability to make quick decisions on the road, react to changes in the environment and execute specific, often difficult maneuvers behind the wheel. When drinking and driving it is never safe for the driver or any person or vehicle he/she may come in
