Abstract : Yartra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devataha Where women are worshiped there the Gods reside
This verse is taken from our ancient scriptures. The ultimate reality is one and the world of beings is its manifestations. The Upanishads declare that –Ekam sat viprah bahuda vadanthi’ means—there is but only one reality in this world ; described in many ways. Man and woman are the two manifestations of one supreme power. They appear different in form and function but the fact remains they are equal in strength, power and disposition. Yet they are different and unique!!! It is in man, that woman finds her end or fulfillment and vise versa. This unique relationship is described in Indian philosophy as Shiva & Sakti and Purusa & Prakrti. Pursa is the conscious principle, the force or the energy while Prakrti is matter, gross, but active. It is in their union the very evolution has taken place!!
Philosophically the doctrine of evolution has great significance in inter relating matter, life, mind and spirit. In
Indian mythology Siva and Sakti are represented as two sides of the same divinity. Hence there is beautiful depiction of this union as
ARDHANAREESWARA. —half man and half woman !!! It is a union of both.
* Our essential being is inward, spiritual and it derives strength from within and not from without. Yet some men are gifted with several qualities and so are women. The qualities, which beings possess, make them noble. India in every generation has produced millions of women who have never found fame, but whose daily existence has helped to civilize the race and whose warmth of heart, self sacrificing zeal, unassuming loyalty and strength in suffering have inspired many till date It is

Society has placed various stereotypes on genders, ethnicities, and so on. There is yet another standard for women and men. John Gray’s assertion, “A man’s sense of self is defined through his ability to achieve results… A woman’s sense of self is defined through her feelings and the quality of her relationships” is partially incorrect. Through sources the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates, Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy, and Professions for Women by Virginia Woolf, it will be shown that women are defined by their achievements just as much as men are, and men are defined by their relationships just as much as women are.…

The history of evolution dates back in the 16th century during the pre-Socratic Greek philosophers who thought that all natural things both dead and living as being imperfect fixed natural possibilities and had an intended role within the environment. The greatest breakthrough in this understanding came with the theory of natural selection mechanism which was formulated by Charles Darwin. In the 19th century, modern evolution synthesis merged the understanding…

Betsy Ross was born Elizabeth Griscom to Samuel Griscom and the former Rebecca James in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 1, 1752, the eighth of seventeen children. She grew up in a household where the plain dress and strict discipline of the Society of Friends dominated her life. She learned to sew from her great-aunt Sarah Elizabeth Ann Griscom. Her great-grandfather Andrew Griscom, a Quaker carpenter, emigrated in 1680 from England (www.biography.com). Like her sisters, she attended Quaker schools and learned sewing and other crafts common in her day. After Betsy completed her schooling, her father apprenticed her to a local upholsterer, where at age 17 she met John Ross, an Anglican. The two young apprentices quickly fell for one another, but Betsy was a Quaker, and the act of marrying outside of one 's religion was strictly off-limits. To the shock of their families, Betsy and John married in 1772, and she was promptly expelled from both her family and the Friends meeting house in Philadelphia that served as a place of worship for Quakers. Eventually, the couple opened their own upholstery business, drawing on Betsy 's deft needlework skills. Betsy Ross is best known for making the first American flag. Betsy died on January 30, 1836, at the age of 84.…

Hinduism is founded upon what is known as Brahman. It is the ultimate reality of everything in the world. It is the absolute foundation of all being on our planet and in the universe. "Brahman is declared to be the highest aim of all metaphysical inquiry." (29) Brahman is not exactly a person, as it is more closely related to be a kind of "God." A Hindu would also say that Brahman is the primary cause of all existence. Hindu's believe that in the beginning of existence there was nothing but the singleness that is Brahman. And from Brahman everything was created and expanded. Brahman was said to have been lonely and so it divided itself into two parts; male and female. From these two beings, Brahmans super-creation produced multiple forms and accounts for the multiplicity of the world. It is not only in the world but it is also the world. The Atman is another popular being in Hinduism. This is the essence or the soul of a human being. This too is also defined as the source of all life, and the root of all existence. Atman is the ultimate self of someone, "The self is all and all is the self." (32) It is also the knower all knowledge and the "Inner controller." The main goal of the Upanishads is to realize that the Atman is the Brahman.…

Day after election celebration of the first female president will remain an unfulfilled dream in heart and minds of most Americans especially women both at home and abroad. This well anticipated dream day turned out to be a nightmare for most women as they protestant across the land in different cities. For this paper let’s take the account of the gathering at Washington Square Park in New York. The women are terrified that a man that is certifiably a sexist will become their president; the thought of being led by a man such as Mr. Donald Trump have dwarfed the grief they feel for Mrs. Hilary Clinton losing the election. The concern of many Americans today is not so much that a female lost or about Mrs. Clinton’s gigantic defeat, it is more…

Women are very interesting. They are beautiful, tender, elegant but be careful. Every good thing has a price to pay. All that glitters is not gold. It is hard for one to think of a young fine good looking lady to be having one of the ugliest sides. Just provoke them! Women can cross extremes and it is true ask any of your close female friends and see what they tell you; this is mainly in matters concerning love. They can do anything for the person they love jealousy is a common character of women no doubt on that. If this jealousy is not controlled, it can turn out into a disaster. Women can easily begin doubting and interestingly are strong at heart though not so strong from the outside. Moodiness can well describe a woman. Betrayal is the simplest way of unleashing evils out of once the elegant tender woman. Take a look at Medea in the play Medea; killing her children, Creon and his daughter. Hatred is another factor in women as well as love and care.…

Purusa in its pristine nature is pure, is gunatita and free from duhkha traya – the three-fold miseries. Because of evolution, it gets entrapped or embodied in Prakriti (the body-mind-intellect-ego complex). Man is basically a composite being made up of Purusa and Prakriti. The Purusa in man is his consciousness and the Prakriti in man is his body-mind-intellect-ego complex. Out of these two parts of man, the Reality of man cannot be Prakrti because that which is changing, impermanent and mutable cannot be the Reality. The body-mind-intellect-ego complex is continuously changing. The Real nature of man , his essence, is Purusa, the consciousness. Due to ignorance or avidya man identifies himself with his Prkritic aspect and appropriates all that happens with this Prakritic complex as happening to himself. Due to identification with the body, when the body grows old, falls sick, decays and dies, he considers himself growing old, falling sick, decaying and dying. The same thing happens in connection with the mind (manas, buddhi and ahamkar). When the mind is sad, unhappy or happy, he says I am sad, unhappy or happy. All the miseries arising from the three sources are due to this false identification happening out of ignorance. If the ignorance is eliminated by discriminative knowledge (viveka khyati), there is realization of his true Self (Self-realization) and an ultimate end to all pain / sufferings of human life. This viveka khyati leads the Purusa to its original pristine nature i.e. pure consciousness / awareness…
