WIRELESS POWER TRANSMISSION

Abstract: We are implementing new concept in our project. We are going to transmit the electrical energy without wire. It is not easy concept. Here power is transmit from one place to another place using electromagnetic induction or laser concept. Wireless energy transfer or Wireless power is the transmission of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without interconnecting wires. Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. Wireless power differs from wireless telecommunications, where the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or the percentage of energy received becomes critical only if it is too low for the signal to be adequately recovered. With wireless power transmission, efficiency is the more important parameter. The most common form of wireless power transmission is carried out using inductive coupling followed by resonant inductive coupling. Other methods include microwaves and lasers.

1. Electromagnetic induction

Electromagnetic induction wireless transmission techniques are near field over distances comparable to a few times the diameter of the device or devices approaching one quarter of the wavelength used. Near field energy itself is non-radiative but some radiative losses do occur. In addition there are usually resistive losses. Energy transfer by induction is usually magnetic but capacitive coupling can also be achieved.

Electrodynamic induction method

Electromagnetic induction can work on the principal of a primary coil generating a predominantly magnetic field and a secondary coil being within that field so a current is induced in the secondary. Coupling must be tight in order to achieve high efficiency. As the distance from the primary is increased, more and more of the magnetic field misses the secondary. Even over a relatively short range the induction method is grossly inefficient, wasting much of

A wireless local area network, or LAN is a flexible data communications system implemented as an augmentation to, or an alternative for a, wired local area network. These networks rely on electromagnetic airwaves to transmit and receive over a defined area, usually a few hundred feet. (Yahoo-wireless) In most cases, a wireless transmitter will be connected directly to a wired land network using Ethernet cables. Once the network feed has been connected to the transmitter, and a constant power supply is established, a steady stream of radio, or infrared waves with be produced (both are electromagnetic waves). The vast majority of wireless LAN systems tend to rely on radio waves as the carries for their signals, because infrared waves tend to have a shorter distance at which they are able to transmit, and are more easily interrupted. Radio waves, or radio carriers as they are referred to, transfer data through modulations of the carrier signal. The addition of data to a radio carrier causes the signal to occupy more than a single frequency. Once data is imprinted onto the radio signal it is a simple reversal of the transmitting process that allows the information to be decoded by a receiving station. (Rho Wireless)…

There are lots of different kinds of wireless technologies on the market in today’s technology world. The four kinds of cordless technologies I would prefer to speak about will be IR or Infrared, satellite signals, microwave signals, as well as radio systems. These kinds of systems transmit data in various ways and strengths. All of these types of systems have their advantages and disadvantages. Infrared is dependent on the utilization of infrared light signals. Infrared light isn't noticeable by the human eye. This kind of signal utilized LEDs and ILDs to transmit signals as well as photodiodes to receive signals. The frequencies which IR can operate are from 100 GHz to 1000 THz. The drawback is that it can't pass through physical objects for example walls and other hurdles.…

    Transformer

Generation of Electrical Power in low voltage level is very much cost effective. Hence Electrical Power are generated in low voltage level. Theoretically, this low voltage leveled power can be transmitted to the receiving end. But if the voltage level of a power is increased, the electric current of the power is reduced which causes reduction in ohmic or I2R losses in the system, reduction in cross sectional area of the conductor i.e. reduction in capital cost of the system and it also improves the voltage regulation of the system. Because of these, low leveled power must be stepped up for efficient electrical power transmission. This is done by step up transformer at the sending side of the power system network. As this high voltage power may not be distributed to the consumers directly, this must be stepped down to the desired level at the receiving end with help of step down transformer. These are the use of electrical power transformer in the Electrical Power System.…
