Winter vs. Summer
Summer vs. winter
Each season has its own characteristics: heat of summer, falling leaves of fall, blooming flowers of spring, and the snow of winter. In the United States summer and winter are the two seasons that are distinguished from each other. Weather, food, clothing, activities change from summer to winter. In addition, alternating seasons would affect people’s mood and health.
Summer and winter have completely different weather patterns. When people say summer, the first thing that comes to our mind is the sun and hot and humid weather. On the other hand, winter reminds us of cold and snow. In some states like Nevada the temperature during summer may reach 109°F, while in winter the temperature was recorded −79.8 °F in Alaska. People always worry about hurricanes and tornados at the end of summer; in contrast they are worried about snow storms and blizzard in winter. The sun in summer always shines and the day is longer than the night. However, clouds cover the sky and the night becomes longer than the day in winter.
Because of the weather, people tend to change food and clothing from summer to winter. During the summertime, people prefer wearing such outfits as T-shirts, shorts, skirts and sandals to avoid the hot weather while they dress in sweaters, jeans or long pants, coats, and boots in the winter to keep themselves warm. The hot weather in the summer makes people like to eat cold food such as ice cream and drink refreshing drinks such as lemonade. To stay warm in winter, people eat hot meals like chicken pot pie and hot chicken soup, and drink hot drinks such as hot chocolate, hot tea, and hot milk with ginger.
People’s activities change depending on the weather. In winter, they stay at home for a long time and dislike to enjoy the outdoor activities; however, they spend many hours enjoying the outdoor activities in summer. Unlike the winter, the summer outdoor activities involve the sun and an open area. For example, most people spend long

Ohio is warmer in the summer than in the winter because it is closer to the sun due to Earth rotating on a tilted axis while making revolutions around the sun. This axis that the Earth rotates on makes hemispheres of Earth closer or farther to the sun during a year, or revolution, that causes our seasons. For example in the beginning of the revolution, the Northwestern hemisphere is farthest from the sun, thus it is cold, giving us Winter. As we make our revolution around the sun, the Northwestern hemisphere becomes closer to the sun as the opposite (Southeastern) hemisphere moves away from the Sun, it becomes warmer, thus giving us summer. Since we are always making revolutions around the sun, the seasons will continue changing. This…

Although summer and winter both occur when the Earth is titled toward the sun, there are very different seasons. The first and most obvious difference between summer and winter is the weather. During the summertime the days are warm and sunny. Temperatures range from 70° and above with a slight breeze, making it enjoyable to be outside. Toward the end of summer people tend to worry about hurricanes and tornadoes. On the other hand, winter days are cold and dark. There is a constant freezing chill making temperatures drop below zero. Normally there are worries about serious snow storms and blizzards. Another noticeable difference between summer and winter consist of the types of activities people participate in during the two seasons. Summer activities tend to involve being outdoors. For example people enjoy trips to the beach, family cookouts, swimming and even long walks. The sounds of kids riding their bikes and fireworks crackling can be heard throughout the days. However, in the winter people occasionally enjoy outdoors activities like sledding, ice skating and snowboarding. Generally during the winter though, people spend most of their time participating in indoor activities like watching movies, readings books, and baking sweets. For the reason that climates are drastically different during the summer and winter, these is also a huge difference in the way a person is dressed. During the summer people dress lightly, wearing simple t-shirts, shorts, flip-flops, and bathing suits. Hats are typically worn to keep the sun out of people's faces. Since the temperatures are high there is no need for any extra clothing or layering. Unlike while in the winter time multiple layers are worn to keep warm. People dress in heavy sweaters, long pants, thick coats, and boots. Hats are also worn during the winter, but not to block the sun but instead to keep the heat in. Last but…
