WIND ENERGY WATER PUMP

GROUP1-CIC-4

EFDP2012 Final Report for Water Pump

Group1-CIC-4

Executive Summary In the Anh Minh district of Vietnam, most of the people are using the manual water pump which is hardly to be operated by elders and children, also, it has the low capacity about 1,200 litres per hour. Nowadays, with the increasing number of water demand, the old manual pumps have to be improved or changed to the alternative energy water pump such as the wind power water pump which our team designed for them. Our design offers the easy operation which can be operated by everyone readily and the high capacity. ` The wind power water pump has a higher capacity compared with the manual pump, which can approximately pump 2,400 liters water per hour. It will satisfy the local people’s water demand. Because our design is a fully mechanical product by using the energy from the wind, thus, the expensive electricity will not be used so that the burden for the local people will be reduced. Our design is mainly helping three groups people, the women, children and elders. Due to the difficulties to operate the old manual pumps, those people cannot get the water readily; however, our product will offer them the simple approach to access the water.

The materials we used are major materials in the local area, such as the wood pillar, square timber and PE pipe and so on. All of them have an inexpensive cost and not hard to get the resources from the local area. Meanwhile, all these materials are environmental friendly; they will not produce any pollution which is important to keep the local people healthy. The level of the noise which the windmill produced is approaching to the sound level of the quite bedroom (refer to the information in the chapter 1.4),

The SED team has found many advanatages and disadvantages related to installing a wind turbine at Jimmy Peak Mountain Resort. Some of the disadvantages include being hazardous to the birds, inconsistant source of power and it produces noise pollution. The advantages to having a wind turbine would be savings in costs, it is the cleanest form of energy, and wind is free. Taking all of the above into…

The journey to find an alternate source of energy that is in accordance with past events and current trends in technology has introduced new methods for human beings to care for the environment and to protect earth’s natural resources. An alternate source of energy that this paper will be covering is wind power. This is not a new discovery but overtime it took a fresh and better tactic. History will reveal that hundreds of years ago, windmills were already use in Europe in wind farms with wind turbines in order to gain as much as wind energy as possible. This is an effective method in producing the maximum wind energy; however, there are pros and cons that one has to be aware with in this kind of alternative source of energy.…

The system is ease of use as it is compact and portable. It is able to be attached to the window and the weight is less than 5 kg. The system should be cheap to product and market and should be able to use for at least 5 years. The system is environmentally friendly so that it will not make noise above 85 dB or emit extra greenhouse gases in operation. Our team has also made sure that the design is safe to use as it does not have…

"Windmills ruin the landscape." Unlike solar panels and other clean energy sources, windmills can be very large and unnatural looking. That's why there are designated wind farms. A wind farm is a place, usually out in the middle of nowhere, where hundred of windmills are grouped together. They are very common in the midwest and Pacific coast of the…

The wind power industry first developed in Iran around 200 B.C. The first windmills were vertical axis wind turbines, which were used for pumping water and grinding whole grains for food consumption. The Chinese, Romans and Afghans all used windmills around this time for similar use. In the 13th century Holland started developing large horizontal axis windmills. These four-blade windmills were larger, carried more torque and wind speed and could do more work than other windmills previously designed. These windmills were also used for grinding and pumping water, but on a more productive level.…

Besides milling grain and irrigating farmland, windmills developed from the 15th century to the 19th century were adapted to a variety of tasks, including pumping seawater from land below sea level, sawing wood, making paper, pressing oil from seeds, and grinding many different materials. By the 19th century the Dutch had built about 9000 windmills. In 2006 the United States became the world’s third largest producer of energy from wind power, generating more than 11.5 megawatts of electricity.…

Weeks ago, when I investigated our farm and surveyed the ground, I discovered that the knoll is the highest point on the farm, and it is certainly the ideal place to build the windmill on. Once the windmill is built, it can generate electricity through a dynamo with the energy from wind. This amount of electrical power will be so enormous that it will be able to run a circular saw; it will be able to run a chaff-cutter, it will be able to light up every stall in the farm, and warm them in winter.…

The current Polysilicon price is less than $17/kg. The focus for reducing cost per Watt peak (Wp) remains on improving technology to increase module output power as well as on the more efficient use of all materials. The learning rate ( the decrease in prices of module with every doubling of module shipments) of 21% is expected to be maintained by introducing new double and single sided contact cell concepts with improved Si-wafers, improved cell front and rear side and improved module technologies. The module output power may go up to 300Wp by 2013.…

The use of hydropower throughout the world has been changing since thousands of years. It's because it is an indigenously available, clean, and renewable source of energy. Currently, 15% of the world's electricity comes from hydroelectric power (Renewable Energy for the 21st Century, "Renewables 2007: Global Status Report"). While this number is impressive, new technologies will help hydroelectric power play a larger role in meeting global energy needs in the future.New developments are made to achieve best results on harnessing water as an energy source. All aimed at reducing other energy sources depletion and pollution in order to increase the efficiency of the power. This has said to have a huge potential, both huge and small levels(Dr. Nand Kishor,Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad) . Hydropower plants can be based either as run-off river type or with reservior built. Both levels can be based by either of the two depending on the capacity of power generation. Small levels is usually a run-of-river plant that uses fixed speed drive with mechanical regulation of the turbine water flow for controlling the active power generation(J.L. Marquez, M.G. Molina, J.M. Pacas; Instituto de Energía Eléctrica, Universidad Nacional de San Juan). Though there are new technologies upcoming, there are also conflicts which depicts the disadvantages of certain uses or operation. It has been reported that certain problems handling the plant may cause devastation over an area around the built power plant,(Asia News Network, News Desk, Vietnam News; Published 08/11/2010). Lack of further inspection and/or miscalculations during the design and constructions may cause future…
