Introduction
Many companies have been established in 1772 like Hilhouse and Osborne group but the most well known company founded in that period is probably Wilkinson sword.
Wilkinson is an English brand which is now specializing in razors, belonging to the American Energizer since 2003. It has been developed step by step over the years,
1772: Henry Nock, gunsmith from King George III, founded a company specializing in guns and bayonets.
1805: the first stone for a famous trademark is laid: Wilkinson sword.
Henry nock’s step- son, James Wilkinson, inherited the company after the death of the latter. James develops the business by adding the manufacture of swords to its activity. With as masterful precision work, Wilkinson Sword has quickly gained a solid reputation.
1898: Wilkinson Sword creates the first safety razor, the "Pall Mall". These extremely effective razor blades used sharpened hollow base: it was the safest models in the market.
1903: In the early 20th century, the company began to diversify into products like bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles (1903-1912). To compensate for the missing arms orders after the 1st World War, gardening tools and hunting knives are produced.
1929: back to the source, Wilkinson focuses on the production of razors and develops the Empire, the enhanced successor Pall Mall. For the first time we could adjust the distance between the blade spring and the angle and also of the housing relative to the handle. In addition, the grinding could be done directly on the razor, which was a revolution at the time.
1954: Moving the production of blades Solingen, classic place of production of cutlery. The beginning of the double-edged blade of stainless steel production. Even today, most of Wilkinson blades that are sold in Switzerland are produced in Solingen.
1971: Wilkinson is the first manufacturer to develop a system of manual shaving as it is known today, the blades held by a plastic frame: Wilkinson Sword T70.
