I am just a lower enlisted soldier and the NCO is in a leadership position, not me. If I am told to do something by a Non-Commissioned Officer I need to know my place and do as instructed. I had a temporary lapse in judgment. My Non Commissioned Officers know what is best for to progress in my army career which will help me become a better person. Disobeying an NCO could bring direr consequences. I could get someone hurt or killed or destroy military equipment. If these should happen I know I could possibly get kicked out of the army which would be determinant to my life outside of the military. If I keep disobeying orders I could lose the trust of all those I work with, if that happens I could not get promoted and move forward in my military career. Rank is everything to us as members of the armed services, without the rank structure and the orders that follow we are nothing but savages. Even if I don’t agree with my orders from any Non Commissioned Officer I need to suck it up and do it with no questions asked. Continuous disobeying of orders will cause me to face UCMJ action. By disobeying an order I may face several serious consequences. I would say the worst consequence would be getting someone hurt or even killed in battle. I don’t know how I would be able to live with myself if I allowed that to happen all because I didn’t listen to the orders I was given by my NCO. We could be on a mission and a Non Commissioned Officer could tell me to pull security on a particular building and by not listening the enemy could sneak up and fire on us and my battle buddy could be seriously injured or killed right on the spot all because I didn’t listen to when my NCO told me to pull security on that particular building. It would all be preventable if I just listen and do as I am told. Another thing that would be easy to prevent by opening my ears and listening would be destruction of military equipment.
