Gustav Stresemann was a German politician and a statesmen. He served as chancellor in 1923. He was also a foreign minister during 1923-1929, during the Weimar republic. He was awarded with the nobel peace prize in 1926. Stresemann was born on May 10, 1878 and he died October 3, 1929.

When Stresemann was killed Hitler saw an opportunity to take over just as he had planned and he took advantage of this. The American Stock Exchange crashed and caused the Great Depression about three weeks after this in America. When this happened it affected Germany more than any other country in the world. This weakened the country of Germany and gave Hitler and his Nazis Party an excellent opportunity to take over Germany. Hitler would more than likely had a much slighter chance at taking over if Gustav Stresemann hadn’t had died. Some say that Hitler set up someone to kill Stresemann so that he could take over, but no one ever could figure that out. Once Hitler was in power he gained the support that many didn’t have when Stresemann was in power of Germany. History could have taken a whole different path if Gustav Stresemann would have still been alive and had still been in control of Germany, but because of his death the whole country of Germany was turned around and looked at differently. This was of Hitler and what he had done with the country of Germany. Millions of people fell in love with Hitler because of his great amounts of influence when he gave speeches.
