Schools are places where students go and learn. I believe that the administrators and teachers help to determine the type of school that it will be. For instance, this student that states I was always getting in trouble for reading in school might feel that reading is something that can get him in trouble. As adults we are the ones who place the rules and teach children what is acceptable and unacceptable. According to Myles (1990) “everything comes out of the past and goes beyond” which helps shape who we are today (p. 7). As educators we are the ones that are creating a safe, fund, and healthy learning environment that promotes students development. However, I believe that if students…

To start with this subject we should take a look at history, schools have big influence in our lives, in some countries schools are known as student’s second home because children from early age attend school to gain different experiences from school and studying there. They learn how to socialize with others, how to be helpful and also get help from other people.…
| When a child starts school it influences them emotionally, because when they first start they may be shy, they feel upset when they have to leave their mum and dad. As they get used to being without their parents they will start to develop new bonds with other children. Their self-esteem will start to increase and they will start to enjoy themselves and feel happy.…
American schools have the responsibility to create better human beings, and they are expected to do it consistently over the years for all young people. Currently, anyone can observe the differences between the school system today and 10 years ago. The academic rigor and behavioral expectations of American education have declined. The efforts to make students more competitive worldwide and ready to embrace the demanding workforce have not borne out. The Schools are failing our children because of low standards and poor discipline policies.…

The United States has always been known for its high political status and producing exceedingly educated political leaders. Just a couple decades ago the United States classified first in the world in percent of students completing school and maintaining a steady career. But, according to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that no longer stands accurately for the United States. Back then, America was the unchallenged education leader in the world, but now, in present day America, the graduation rate has plummeted. Thus, creating a problem that other countries are surpassing American scholastic performance, eminently among their younger students. In America too many high…
From the age of 6-11 school is an important factor in the child’s life. New social and academic demands are placed on the child. If successful they feel competent and if they do not feel that they have achieved at this then they feel inferior.…
American novelist and university professor John Gardner once wrote, “All too often, on the long road up, young leaders become servants of what is rather than shapers of what might be.” In my experience with the American public school system, I have seen too often that students have become indifferent, disenfranchised and stripped of the colorful aspects of their individuality that could spark a future change in the world. Students are faced with the unparalleled pressures of this 21st century American culture demanding all at once too much and too little of them both inside and outside their classroom walls.…
A person's individuality is one of their most important characteristics. Individuality makes people special and when appreciated builds self-worth. Everyone has their own unique traits they bring about. Most Youths have a different perspective than adults do about schooling. Most adults view schooling as an opportunity to become what you want in the career world. Visa-versa, the view students share towards schooling is that schooling is boring and a waste of time; some may even call it imprisonment. Adults tend to blame students for student’s lack of interest which discourages students and make schooling more boring and feel like more of a waste of time for themselves. The fact that adults have different views than students do on education shows us that we are teaching our kids that education isn’t important. Therefore, we need to address this issue by teaching our kids to value education.…
When students attend school each day, they are required to attend certain courses in order to graduate high school. Due to the fact that these classes have already been chosen for the students, they are discouraged from any type of individuality because the classes have no correlation to their personal interests. Source E states how ineffective the public schooling system is because it strips students of any type of individuality or creativity, making it completely conformed to the standards of the district: “It is a rare child who can come through his schooling with much left of his curiosity, his independence or his sense of his own dignity, competence and worth.” If public schools were to alter their standards to fit the personal interests of the students, the interest in school would increase dramatically. Source F shows a photo of a group of young children singing in a choir class. In my school, like many others, choir is given to students as an elective. While this class is available to take, many students do not have the opportunity to take it because they are too concerned about meeting district requirements in order to graduate. If schools were more open to individuality rather than conformity, not only would the interest in school increase, but the effort would increase as well, leading to a more positive outcome. With improved grades and positive attitudes, students would be in the process of preparing themselves for what the real world has to offer.…
In children depression produces the same slowing of abilities both mental and physical as in adults. The feelings of being worthless and hopeless could easily create intense fatigue. Sleep becomes the priority rather than interaction with peers or adults.…
School by majority the dreaded time between kindergarten and twelfth grade and possibly longer, students go through their day in 45 minute blocks with a few precious minutes in between, while also learning to develop their individual personality. Our world is constantly in need of the next great creative mind while also needing those who can continue to make the system work. It is up to schools to teach students how to be unique while also learning to conform into society.…
