Why Students Should Have Part Time Jobs
Is it a good idea for High School Students to have a part-time job?

I think that high school students should have part time jobs because it gives students a chance to get out and contribute to the community. It teaches students the value of money and gives them skills that they can use in their future.

Firstly, a part time job for students is a good idea because students are greatly needed to participate in to todays society, getting a job in the community is a great way to participate and get themselves involved. It gives students a sense of ownership and belonging within their community that they too are an active member that helps make the society function at it's highest level.

Also, when students get a pay check they have to know that they need to budget their money and also to create a savings account for future purchases. It also teaches them the value of the dollar where a teenager when about to spend their money they can stop and question themselves 'is this a want, or is this a need?' This is a great tool for young adults to acquire at a young age.

Finally it gives students important skills useful for their future. For example, a student was to get a job at the local gas bar one would learn how to handle money, how to stock shelves, order supplies that are needed, customer service and the ability to handle hazardous materials. It's also builds a students character and trust worthy value. As we all know in society word of mouth about ones character and how responsible they are excel fast within any community.

In conclusion, part time work for a student is a key element in future success. It allows the student to grow and learn as an individual and creates strong work ethic. There is nothing more valuable to an employer than an employee that has these skills and in life there is nothing more desirable as an individual than to have a strong sense of worth, character and the ability to handle and manage money to their fullest potential.

Overall, it gives one a greater understanding of all individuals, and this information can be used to interact with them more effectively and be more empathetic. As a teacher, I can definitely see the value of studying the biosocial, cognitive, and psychosocial development of middle childhood and adolescents. More insight into the stages of industry vs. inferiority and intuition vs. analysis can make me more prepared to meet students' needs. One of my favorite selections from the textbook was the "What Were You Thinking?" case study on page 417. Since I work with teens and pre-teens in my classes, I thought that it made an interesting and useful point: brain immaturity can lead to questionable decisions in adolescents. Keeping that in mind may change the way I deal with some classroom management issues in the future. Sometimes kids are going to do questionable things simply because they are kids, not because of some nefarious underlying reasons. A couple teacher friends and I were travelling to Wisconsin for a race during the Chapters 14-16 portion of the course, so we actually talked a lot about some of the ideas I was learning about. Most of our conversation revolved around the developing pre-frontal cortex, but we also spent a lot of time talking about bullying and modes of thinking. One of them even spent a great deal of the trip reading…

There’s a time in life when teens want to get a head jump into their adulthood. To show that they’re maturing, some teenagers start smoking, while others start dating to show their responsibility and commitments towards relationships, but most of them start working part- time in order to have money to do the things they wish to do. In fact, I got my first job at the age of 15 when I was a freshman in high school. The reason why I chose to work was because I wanted to save some money for college. Although I work to save money for school, many of my friends work to save money for new-fashioned clothing and shoes. As a result of working, my GPA dropped from a 3.83 to 3.55 during my senior year. Earning money to spend can be a good thing, but having a job does hurt a teenager in several ways. Therefore, students who are attending school shouldn’t work during the school year because working has a negative effect on the student’s school success as well as his/her future.…

All of the positives about having a part-time job have one big caveat. Students cannot usually be employed more than 20 hours per week or their grades begin to suffer, they do less homework, and they are more likely to drop out (Gisler & Eberts, 2016). Your grades could suffer more if you were without a job than if you had a job during school. The busier you are, the more focused you become. Working really makes you more structured; you have a lot of things to do in a short amount of time, so it’s important to keep up with it all (Laskowski, 2009). So, if they get paid for grades and don’t get a job because you don’t have to, you won’t be structured as if you had a…

The existence of part time jobs for high school students would be detrimental for their academic achievements and futures. All over the world, high school students who are in full time education also do part time jobs for money. Part time jobs mainly would harm students’ school work and future. School work should be their priority, as they should aim to get the good grades needed for university, college and future careers. However, part time jobs would lack their academic achievement and students would often lose their intention their future and focus out of their school work, as their mind is set towards their part time job. As students come from school out of their busy schedules at work, students are too fatigue to have any time for school work and studying for tests or exams. As a result of this, students would not pay attention in class and end up failing. If students fail because of part time jobs, it would be a big threat to their futures. Without that glorious gift, the lives of many are at stake, and especially high school students should take advantage of it while it is available.
